The difference between a good hotel and a great hotel, is sometimes very small, but those differences can be found at the Captains Club. Friendly and helpful staff that go the extra mile are in abundance in all parts of the business including front desk, bar staff, waiters and in the spa. The food choices were not huge, but still...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review following your recent stay with us. I appreciate the road network to reach the hotel can be busy but, as you say, once you get here it is worth it for the riverside location. At least once here you can take the ferry! We very much...

Went to this hotel regularly for the first few years of its opening and then moved out of the area. Decided to visit for daughters birthday and couldn't believe how perfect this was going to be with the weather as well. Ordered drinks outside and was lovely. We then Asked for a menu twice. We were booked for 2.30 and...

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your visit following your visit for lunch yesterday. I am sorry that you found the service slow and the lobsters disappointing. I have chatted with my restaurant manager and nothing was brought to his attention and he was working all day. He has asked to be associated with my apology...

Great food, lovely friendly staff - sandwiches were fresh and my vegetarian selection was really imaginative, beautiful fresh scones and a great selection of cakes. All served in the perfect setting. I would definitely recommend it, and will be returning soon.

Great location near town centre overlooking the river, really tranquil spot. Staff very helpful and attentive, but that is to be expected given the price-tag. Rooms are well equipped and extremely spacious. Ate in restaurant once, service good, food excellent but they must do something about the lighting - was way too bright for premium dining experience. All told though,...

A spacious room with a river view, comfortable bed and amazing pillows. Food superb including seafood, meat dishes and an imaginative breakfast menu. Facial at the spa was relaxing and spa staff friendly and cheerful. Can't wait to return and thanks to all for running such a tight and efficient "ship"....

We were given this short break as a reward and it certainly fitted the bill! The room was very spacious with a lovely view of the River Stour, and everything we could need including a 6ft bed and beautiful bathroom. The staff even found us a small chiller as I mentioned I had some medication that needed to be kept...

We visited here for lunch having previously driven past and thought it looked good. We were not disappointed. Excellent service both at lunch and for drinks later in the bar. The mussels I had for lunch were by far the best I'd had in ages. The bar staff were knowledgeable and there's a wide range of cocktails available. Lovely setting...

We stopped on the off chance of a quick lunch at this lovely hotel. It was packed, as expected, but we grabbed a table by the fire in the bar area. The service was excellent, attentive and friendly. The food from the all day menu was excellent and the smoked haddock omelette superb. Very well done as the place was...

We booked 2 nights away at short notice, choosing this hotel. It was excellent, the staff from arrival were attentive and always available. The room was comfortable - a large bed and with lovely views of the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it.

We popped here after going to another place locally that is of a similar style but they didn't really shows this. Captains Club was great, staff were attentive, friendly and told me to sit down so they could make & bring my cocktails to the table. We ended up having a fair amount of drinks between the two of us...
