Visited for a three nights break on what materialised to be a lovely weekend, albeit the lovely weather made for a very busy scene on both the water and shoreside. Nice welcome by James and our room was fine, rather larger than usual with a very comfortable super king bed and nice seating area looking out on to the water and parkland opposite. Given the space it was a shame that the bathroom didn’t have a walk in shower especially as getting into the high sided bath was rather a challenge in our advancing years! A few grab handles would have been welcome. The breakfasts were very good as was dinner on the Sunday evening. We made good use of the terrace for drinks in the sunshine
Second stay at this marvelous hotel and we will be back! So relaxed, amazing friendly staff, superb food, relaxing spa... perfect views of the river and dog friendly...3 nights felt like a week away. Thank you to all of the amazing team at The Captains club for the most relaxing stay! Our suite was perfect (thank you to Jo for making the room up!), Our breakfast was stupendous....the best eggs beni you will ever taste ..the evening bar meals and wine were superb and made even better by Harry and the teams welcome, wine tasting and cocktail advice and general chit chat...The hotel could not have made our stay any better...THANK YOU!
Stayed two nights in early April and really could not fault the place. Rooms were superb, food was great and all members of staff were friendly and helpful at all times, always the sign of a well managed establishment. Location is superb being right on the River Stour and the views are wonderful. This is a high end boutique hotel and would be the perfect choice for that special occasion, would highly recommend to anyone considering a stay in the Christchurch area.
Just returned from a two nights stay the only downside we did not stay longer, from the time we checked in service was excellent. The fantastic team of staff are efficient attentive and friendly creating a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. We had lunch in the lounge and dinner in the restaurant on both days and was not disappointed great food especially the rack of lamb. The icing on the cake was the complimentary suite upgrade which was spacious and well equipped. Thank you Captains Club, I have already booked a return visit.
Nothing has changed, despite the impact of coronavirus restrictions on the hospitality sector. People still moaning about car parking, despite signs everywhere detailing clearly what the arrangements are ... but never mind, The ambience hasn't changed. Relaxed, calm, efficient and very welcoming. The rooms as sparkling clean as always. The restaurant, excellent, for all mealtimes, but dinner, even in the lounge to accommodate Max our dog, is always made to feel special. Above all, the staff. A few new faces, a lot of old ones, but still that excellent, understated quality of service. Nothing is ever too much trouble, smiles are always present, service is outstanding, the feeling of being a welcome guest is always there. This hotel has always excelled for us, and as I said, nothing changes, it excelled again. Thank you everyone at the Captains club for making our 4 day break such a relaxed occasion.…
Myself and my mum stayed for 2 nights this week. We were returning for our second stay and are already planning when we will be back. We eat here regularly and the food is still as good! What makes this place is the staff, every one of them go out of there way to make your stay extra special. From remembering your names, asking where you’re going and wishing you a safe journey. Even though I noticed some faces have changed, the Captains service and magic remains! Couldn’t recommend a stay here any more! Can’t wait to be back!
I visited Captain's Club Spa for an all day experience 12/4/22. Katy, my masseuse, was excellent. She gave a firm massage and is very knowledgeable about the muscle & bone relationship. I also enjoyed my facial I had with her. The spa and the champagne lunch where the staff were also attendant was a perfect day of relaxation for me. Thank you!
Situated an easy and pleasant 15-20 minute stroll from the centre of Christchurch, the bedrooms and public rooms at this hotel make the most of its riverfront location. Service was top notch. It would be wrong of me to single out any one individual. Everyone we came across was cheerful and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Food in the restaurant was superb and the breakfast was one of the best we've come across in any hotel anywhere. This was our second stay. It won't be our last.
Well located, excellent food but appalling service. Having reserved a table everything went downhill from there. We had to call for a waiter at every stage of the meal. Our best service came from a waitress passing through from the bar - who helped us out twice - promote her !!! No-one came to serve us without our calling them first, upon complaining we were given a free glass of wine by the sommelier - who seemed only to spend his time with tables ordering bottles. We told our waiter we were inclined not to pay the service charge - already in the bill - but he told us he was working alone and management knew of the problem - not much taken by them it would seem. Very disappointing and causing us to consider going elsewhere for our next meeting.
Not impressed. My daughter's attended a spa asssion. It was overpriced and the parking enforcement company issued fine despite valid ticket. Despite contacting them they have threatened legal action. There are better places to go nearby.
