We have just finished a weekend break here and it has been wonderful. We were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our room which was a lovely touch. The rooms are clean and modern whilst still having a sense of historic charm. Breakfast is wonderful with a great selection of food on offer depending on whether you fancy a cooked breakfast, cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit etc. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and really took great care to ensure your stay was amazing throughout. Would highly recommend and hopefully will return soon. Location wise it’s conveniently located about 20mins walk to the nearby station from which you can get the train to Poole in 40mins with stops in Bournemouth etc along the way. A taxi back from Bournemouth cost us £20 which was reasonable. Mudeford/Avon Beach is about 8mins drive away with plenty of water sports, crabbing and food choices along with beautiful coastal walks.

What a wonderful wedding. We held our wedding at the Lord Bute last week. Christopher and the team were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The food - from the canapés to the wedding breakfast and then the evening buffet were all delicious and our guests all commented on how lovely everything was.

We are just returning from a fantastic 3-night stay at the Lord Bute for a family wedding. From the moment we arrived for the Sunday lunch family meet up, to the final breakfast, we have nothing but praise for this 5* Guest House and how they handled the entire event. The restaurant area of the hotel is beautiful. Tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and a menu cooked to perfection. A pianist accompanied the Sunday lunch which was unique in this day and age and just lovely. What made this place extra special were the staff. Oh my goodness, we could not have asked for a higher or more personalised service. The entire team were fantastic and so utterly ‘can do’ and friendly. Chris, the long term manager, is just exceptional and managed to make each guest feel extra special and like a friend. His staff are just the same and special mention must be made about Deborah, who was just lovely. She couldn’t do enough to help us whilst serving and was so warm and friendly. The wedding breakfast itself was exceptional and the room looked stunning. Any other couples thinking about having their reception at the Lord Bute could book with absolute confidence. We will definitely return when visiting the area in the future. C💕

I booked using BUYAGIFT voucher, was so pleased when we arrived! The decor was clean and fresh, every single member of staff was friendly, professional and lovely. The room was spotless as was the bathroom. We didn’t have dinner here … but the breakfast was lovely! Nice fruit bowl with fresh yogurt, large pot of tea, OJ…. Only reason that I haven’t given this 5 star is the cooked breakfast option, no veggie sausage available and although it was a perfectly poached egg.. i would have liked 2 ( due to no veggie sausage ) lovely mushrooms and beans, hash browns, plenty of toast… my husband had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, which he said was delicious! we would definitely stay here again! Note to manager .. get a veggie option for breakfast please 😀

So glad you enjoyed your stay Vicky, and thanks for the great feedback. You could have requested 2 eggs - no problem, and we will mention veggie sausages to the breakfast chef. Hopefully you will come again and give us a 5 star :-)

We booked this property believing it to be a five star hotel (even trip advisor have it advertised as this rating). When we arrived at the property there was nowhere to park (waited 20 minutes for a space). Reception was tiny and we were told it would be closing at 4pm. There is a mobile number to call on the front door should problems arise! Very poor as my key didn’t work for entry that evening. The toilet cistern was dirty (looked like limescale) and took ages to fill and made loud noises after flush. Cold breakfast has limited choice, , fruit juice was concentrated and waitress couldn’t use the coffee machine on the mornings of our stay. The staff were polite and were an asset to the guesthouse and openly said they were not a hotel but a guesthouse. I have written to the hotel with my complaint but the owner (Simon Box) says he is unaware it is advertised as a hotel! A month after our stay it is STILL being advertised as a hotel it is a GUESTHOUSE. Our stay was VERY disappointing.

We have been in contact with you regarding this matter. We are listed as Lord Bute Hotel and Restaurant - but with the associated editorial content clearly stating we are 5 star rated Guest Accommodation. It does not state we are a 5 star hotel, indeed in many places it states 'restaurant with rooms' or 'guest accommodation'. We are clearly not a guest house - with the range of facilities offered. We are also transparent on our room pricing, which is competitively priced against similar venues. We have a 5 star hotel nearby ( Chewton Glen) where the average nightly rate of £634 - comparative to other 5 star hotels. Clearly we did not meet your expectations, and we are sorry for your disappointment, but we hope you find 5 star hotels that meet your standards and your budget on your next stay. kindest regards

Wonderful hotel, great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff, modern and comfortable room, super, plentiful and delicious food, beautiful inside...plenty of safe and secure parking, beach and headland is in easy walking distance from the Hotel... JAZZ Night - Brilliant!!......apart from not having a fridge in the room (my only negative comment - as had to store medicine in a cool condition... what more can I say!

Our wedding ceremony and reception took place at this lovely venue in December 2021. Our party of approx. 70 guests were looked after by excellent staff with outstanding service where nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious, all cooked on site and the chef catered for food intolerances with ease. The decor is elegant with a flare of sophistication and class throughout the hotel. A truly special day made possible with the help of this venue, in particular warmest thanks to Chris D who is beyond amazing.

We had a birthday lunch for my wife and we were made to feel incredibly well looked after. The staff were all first class and the food was exceptional. Although there were a couple of mistakes (all rectified immediately) and also a shortage of draught beer and certain ingredients (unfortunately a result of coming out of lockdown), it did not detract from our enjoyment. We will definitely return.

Myself and 4 friends had the absolute pleasure of enjoying an afternoon tea there last Saturday to celebrate a friends 60th. The service was amazing, we had several waiting staff attend to us and even those not serving us exchanged greetings. The food was second to none and in abundance, certainly wonderful value for money. The ambience and the surroundings were glorious, even down to an actual wardrobe for your outerwear. The one major outstanding point for myself is that as a diabetic their chef even prepared me my own diabetic desserts. Truly incredible, most afternoon teas simply offer me some fruit so that was exceptional and much appreciated. I would highly recommend, and we will be going back for lunch hopefully soon.
