Cedar House is special and our aim is to be the best, first class boutique B&B, providing the highest standards of accommodation. Our Georgian masterpiece is situated in 3 acres of beautiful grounds. Just got back from 3 nights here, fantastic stay, hosts were so friendly and took the time to welcome us and give lots of information about the local area. The B and B was lovely, very spacious set in beautiful grounds, breakfast and staff were exceptional. They also own a Thai restaurant in Christchurch called The Ship which we ate at one night, one of the best Thai’s we have ever had! Would highly recommend! Perfect location for visiting surrounding beaches, can’t wait to go back next summer. Big thanks to Chris, Maggie and their wonderful staff for such an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Kind Regards Jenny

Just returned from 2 night stay. We loved it, beautiful house and grounds. Rooms spacious and full of beautiful antique furniture. Pool heated with outside fridge. Shower and sauna. Amazing breakfast and loved the sociable shared table where you can chat to other residents. Lovely friendly hosts with lots of local knowledge Perfect for a relaxing time away.

I checked in here to relax , do some work in peace and have the family down for the last few days. From start to finish this was by far the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in . The owners are fantastic, looked after us and nothing was too much. The staff are great and every morning my beautiful cabin was spotless and re stocked with all the essentials . It really is like being at home just with the added luxuries and beautiful setting. I missed breakfast on the first few days ( overslept 🤣🤷🏽‍♂️) and was then offered breakfast to my room as the guys were that intent to make my stay as tailored to my needs …. I went to breakfast at the main house the next day and it was beautiful ( best sausages you will ever taste!!) The whole week we stayed was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. 10/10 guys… “ A little Gem , We didn’t want to leave “ Many Thanks and look forward to seeing you again. Lee and Ivy ❤️❤️

Last minute booking to a lovely character property in a splendid setting. Shown a choice of room and elected to stay in the main house, Phantom suite. Lovely spacious room with balcony overlooking fields. Quiet location with lovely mature grounds. We were well looked after with a full English breakfast made to order and substantial portion. The two house keepers were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Recommend to all and will definitely visit again.

We stayed at Cedar House in June 2022 for our wedding at Sopley Mill nearby. My husband and I stayed in the Olive House suite and my friends and family took 3 rooms in the main house. We were all very happy with our rooms and the owners and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. It's a very peaceful spot and there are beautiful gardens to walk around and sun loungers to read a book on next to the pool. The breakfast was very good too. I had been slightly unsure in the run up to our visit because there are a few 1 star reviews on here but that is what prompted this review as our experience couldn't have been more different. The place has character but it is clean, comfortable and a wonderful place to stay - ignore those reviews and book your stay!

We had three rooms booked at Cedar House for a night but it was immediately clear that these were not acceptable in terms of health or safety and were not fit for purpose. There were seven of us booked into two doubles and a triple room. All rooms were absolutely filthy with zero evidence of having been cleaned. The triple room was supposed to have a double bed and a single bed, which were we led to believe would be on a mezzanine level. It was in fact a small mattress built into the eaves of the roof, accessed via a set of very unsafe stairs with a rope bannister and involving a climb over a roof strut. It was certainly not long enough to call an actual bed and would not fit an adult. There was no airflow as this room was simply a loft space and there was no way out if there had been a fire in the main bedroom. The so-called ‘bathroom’ was cramped into the other side of the roof with a toilet directly facing the ‘single bed.’ There was absolutely zero privacy and a sign in the room saying the shower didn’t work anyway. Similar signs were in all rooms, and when we turned on a shower to see how bad it was it was clear that there was indeed a water issue. There was dog poo at the entrance to the property and the entire place was filthy. Carpets were covered in dirt, dust, crumbs, dead insects. There were extensive large stains all over them and the beds. Patio furniture was rusty and unusable. The ‘swimming pool’ was barely bigger than a hot tub and was dirty with mud and leaves at the bottom. We were offered another room but this was musty, damp and the bed was directly under a roof window about 3 foot square with no cover so you couldn't have slept under it. After being offered a refund over the phone by who we assume to be the property manager, we left and found accommodation elsewhere. The owners have now refused to honour this. They claim that we used a bathroom as there was a wet towel (we were there under 30 minutes and we didn't even unpack. The reason we turned the shower on was to see how bad it was based on the sign in the room). They claim that we were offered five other rooms. This is also untrue. We were offered one alternative room it was also not fit for sleeping in. They also claim that the photos of the property are accurate and they have many good reviews online. This may be the case with some very clever camera angles and leaving out a lot of things - there are certainly no photos of a bed crammed into the eave of a roof or a toilet in another eave for example - but they could not be less reflective of this property overall. Finally they claim that the property is well cared for. This is just not true. It was beyond fiflty by anyone's standards. There are indeed good reviews of this property online and for the life of me I can't understand why, but despite the owners saying there is nothing wrong with it, looking a bit closer at the reviews shows that there are in fact a number of others who have had a similar experience and we are certainly not the first to discover that this property is anything but what it makes out to be.

The Breakfast, The Hosts, The Staff & The Decor we’re all amazing. We stayed in the HalfMoon cabin and it was nice and private with stylish decor. It was a little small for 2 adults and a baby but it’s perfect for a couple. Some suggestions for the future would be: *High Chair for dining room. *Mini Fridge with fresh milk in the room & some cookies or biscuits or maybe a bottle of wine. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and try one of the bigger suites.

We booked what looked like a lovely Boutique B&B on bookings.com for the last night of my friends hen weekend for a nice quiet relaxing Sunday/Monday. What we turned up to was what could have been a lovely property but clearly was not !!!!! The whole house was in dire need of not just cleaning but a total refurb. We had booked two double rooms and a triple room. The carpets and beds were badly stained and the triple room was a health and safety nightmare as the tiny single bed and bathroom was accessible by a very very steep almost vertical staircase with only a rope to hold on to. The swimming pool is what I could only describe as a plunge pool. The house keeper could not speak English and called the manager who offered us different rooms at more expense which we declined we were then offered a full refund which she said she would sort out this has not been forth coming from either Cedar House or Bookung.com. The only thing I can say was first class on this property was clearly the marketing as the images were clearly cleverly touched up and taken from very deceiving angles !! Needles to say we dis not stay but booked into a local Premier Inn for the night at added expense. This whole episode upset all seven of us and ended what should have been a lovely relaxing evening and end to the Hen weekend into a nightmare for the Bride to be.

We stayed at Cedar House B&B for one night as we were attending a wedding at Burley Manor. Burley Manor could only offer us a two night stay at quite a high price and, as we only live an hour away, we were looking for something less pricey but just as lovely, which is exactly what we found at Cedar House. Cedar House is beautifully decorated, very welcoming and homely. The room was spacious with all the amenities we required and I could definitely see myself hiding away in there with a good book! There were plenty of choices for breakfast and everything was cooked and presented nicely. The hosts were very accommodating and they allowed us to check in earlier than expected as well as providing us with information regarding local taxi services. We certainly have no regrets about choosing to stay here and hope to come back in the warmer weather to enjoy the beautiful gardens and swimming pool.

Cedar House was a joy from start to finish, the ultimate "country house" experience with marvellous hosts in Maggie and Chris, sharing with us their family home of nearly 50 years, built nearly 200 years ago, set is acres of gardens and towered over by a 400 year cedar tree (hence the name!). Super comfortable, with all the modern amenities, fascinating artwork and antiques all around and situated only 5 minutes drive from Christchurch with its fabulous beaches, harbour and restaurants. This all makes for terrific week or weekend away, a stone's throw from the New Forest, the Solent, Beaulieu river and the Dorset costline - a real gem, unmissable!
