I have eaten here twice recently and had the set lunchtime menu. Both times I felt the food had been specially cooked for us, nothing heated up or cooked ahead. Lovely meals and good service. Menu choices for £11 two courses included whitebait, pigeon breasts, risotto which were all very nicely presented and flavoursome. Good to have nice food in...

This is a super place to stay. The bedroom I was in was nicely updated but still had charm, due to slightly wonky walls and floors, but clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. The pub is lovely. 4 real ales and the food is out of this world. Beautifully prepared and presented, it is a joy to both behold and eat....

Had an evening event and stayed over. Really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely recommend this one. Breakfast was hot and delicious. Plenty to see and do locally and this is situated right in the middle of everything

Don't normally write reviews but I think I'll start with this hotel, as I find myself sat in a chair at the top of the stairs because I can't get wifi in my room I wonder why in this day and age when a car can drive itself that a hotel that advertises wifi actually doesn't have the capability to...

We stayed with friends for dinner, bed and breakfast. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms lovely but our friends had the 4-poster bedroom and found the toilet flush to be a bit noisy, especially in the quiet of the night, Evening meal was delicious. We all ate far too much. The chicken wing starter was really tasty. Steaks delicious. Hake...

Wow - impromptu Sunday lunch - chef squeezed us in and the food was excellent, as was the service. Langoustine Caesar salad wonderful - and the best steak & mushroom pie (short crust pasty outstanding)!! We will be back!!

I stayed in the George for 3 nights at the end of August 2016. I couldn't fault the accommodation. However, similarly to a few posters on this site, I found that the kitchen seemed to close v early despite demand for food and table availability in the restaurant. It was disappointing to be refused food early ( ish- it was...

We chose to celebrate new years eve at the George, and had a great night! The food was out a bit later than planned but it was worth waiting for. Lovely hog roast and buffet with plenty to go round. The band were absolutely great and got everyone dancing! The only issue was a group of people that came in...

We booked and paid for New Year's Eve which was to include a meal and entertainment, weeks in advance. When we arrived we were told that no seating or tables were available and we were informed that it was first come first served.Nibbles had been provided for the seated customers but we were told we couldn't have any. The meal...

I would like to thank the landlord and he's wife for such a great night on New Year's Eve Not only was the food good as always, so was the band there was a little blip during the evening when a group of 15 turned up drunk, and was being very abusive I think the landlord dealt with the matter...
