Back again to GF - what a fabulous place it is! Still the Gold standard as far as I'm concerned for ambience, service, food and gorgeous surroundings. Lovely attentive staff look after you from the minute you arrive. I'll definitely be back!

well worth the detour as we spent a night at London Heathrow airport between flights. Food was superb and gardens were a most welcome place to walk around and get some air after being cooped up in a plane from Chicago

Absolutely gorgeous historic building with stunning gardens. The staff are very pleasant, professional and attentive. The bedrooms are well equipped with hospitality trays and all you would expect of a 5* property, bedlinen, bathrobes and towels were of an excellent quality. However, choose your room carefully, the basic coachhouse rooms and bathrooms are very small and really only suitable for...

What a find! From the moment I stepped into this hotel I was impressed with the service. I was welcomed by reception and check in quickly. A lovely man showed me to my room and carried my bag, He showed me the facilities in the room too including some history of the hotel. After 5 minutes reception called the room...

My partner booked this as a surprise for me to celebrate our Anniversary. We had been there for lunch last year and had liked it so much I mentioned I would love to stay there at some point. We recently got married here. The venue is stunning, the staff excellent, food brilliant! Our guests as well as us experienced the best wedding ever! We cannot fault anything. If you want a special venue with beautiful rooms this is the place. The Queen Anne suite where we spent our wedding night was lovely. We will go back.

Stayed overnight for a wedding. It isn't the cheapest hotel that you will stay in but there's a reason for that. The building and grounds are idyllic, one can feel the Tudor history oozing from every creaking floorboard and the fabulous landscaped gardens complete with maze and lake are a joy to walk in. Our wedding "breakfast" would have been...

All staff most helpful and obliging particularly after admin problems at both reception and restaurant sorted . Possible neither quite up to the standard to which they aspire. Hotel,in very old buildings did not quite marry up with very modern facilities installed - electrics in our room pretty well incomprehensible. Food not really up to the prices charged. But hotel...

Here for a business conference. The gardens and house are superbly kept and presented. Staff attentive but not pushy. Food very good. Rooms are all different and well presented in the style of the hotel rather than some faceless modern stuff. Only slight negative is trying to find your way around the place as like a maze! But always staff...

Went for a small business overnight stay and dinner (just 6 of us) and had a great time. As I was there for work I did not get the chance to explore the grounds or take advantage of sitting in the lounge and relaxing but on a different occasion could see how this would be a very attractive thing to...

Thank you for leaving such a detailed review. I was pleased to read that on the whole you enjoyed your stay and dinner with us. I have noted your advice and will be using your points to improve the service that we offer to our future guests. Unfortunately we do not currently have a gym although this is certainly something...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Probably built as a Royal Hunting lodge and very much a stately home since the 16th century, Great Fosters is now a prestigious hotel, awarded 4 red stars by the AA. Set amongst 50 acres of gardens and parkland, the hotel is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, while the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds three sides of the formal garden. All the suites and bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, whilst the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more contemporary in style. The refurbished Coach House offers luxurious accommodation with the latest plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and fabulous bathrooms. The hotel has two restaurants - The Estate Grill has been awarded two rosettes by the AA and serves a simple and seasonal menu with many of the dishes using produce grown on the estate and cooked on a Josper grill. The Tudor Room was awarded a Michelin star and three rosettes by the AA in October 2016 and is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. ... more   less
