We stayed in the 'Panel II' room which was a room, appropriately paneled throughout, that overlooked the front of the manor house hotel. The room was large and most comfortable, containing a king, canopied, four-poster bed and other appropriate antique pieces. The bathroom had a tub and shower combination and a surprise toilet! It was a modern appliance that was...

Enjoyed a great family afternoon tea, in a very good atmospheric traditional sitting room. With a log burning fire. The tea was delicious, with plenty of sandwiches, which were refreshed to our requirements. We were offered very pretty doggy boxes for cakes etc which were more than we could manage to eat.

What a fantastic venue and one that managed to make a perfect special day even better. We had a private room (the orangery). Enough space for us all with ample room to spare. Service was very attentive and I can find no criticism at all. Just what you would expect for this type of establishment. Food was also first class...

My daughter was married at Great Fosters and we stayed in an executive room for four nights. The room overlooked the gardens with the water fountain, and was spacious with additional seating and a super comfortable bed. However, the bathroom was on the small side! The room was clean and well cared for and we enjoyed the turn down service...

What an amazing location, surroundings, architecture, furnishings, garden and restaurant! When I heard the room rate was similar to the chain hotels at Heathrow, I wished I'd both dined and stayed at Great Fosters. The food was really good and the wine list accommodated all our needs. There was plenty of staff including a sommelier, though they kept walking by...

Just spent a night at this hotel - on the 'signature stay'. A glass of champagne on arrival, dinner in the Tudor Room, recently awarded a Michelin Star, a quirky and large bedroom with breakfast. The building is amazing, the decor is in keeping with the style. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. Dinner in the Tudor Room was...

We booked two rooms here in January for a xmas present for my mum. Plenty of parking space on arrival. The entrance has a huge wooden door with a smaller door in it. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Probably built as a Royal Hunting lodge and very much a stately home since the 16th century, Great Fosters is now a prestigious hotel, awarded 4 red stars by the AA. Set amongst 50 acres of gardens and parkland, the hotel is a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities. Its past is evident in the mullioned windows, tall chimneys, fireplaces and brick finials, while the Saxon moat, crossed by a Japanese bridge, surrounds three sides of the formal garden. All the suites and bedrooms are individually decorated. The bedrooms in the Main House are adorned with tapestries and antiques, whilst the bedrooms in The Cloisters are more contemporary in style. The refurbished Coach House offers luxurious accommodation with the latest plasma screens, i-pod docking stations and fabulous bathrooms. The hotel has two restaurants - The Estate Grill has been awarded two rosettes by the AA and serves a simple and seasonal menu with many of the dishes using produce grown on the estate and cooked on a Josper grill. The Tudor Room was awarded a Michelin star and three rosettes by the AA in October 2016 and is an intimate sophisticated restaurant open for lunch on a Thursday & Friday and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive. ... more   less
