Did not stay overnight.Went the first day the cafe opened with three grandchildren. We were the only customers . This is a lovely riverside setting. I first came to Newcastle on a ship in the 1970.s .The Tyne looks so different now the shipyards and docks are gone...more like going up the Seine. Apart from the views/scenery we found the...

Large rooms and really comfy beds. Within walking distance to town and friendly staff. Not expensive and well worth it. The hotel has character and worth the price. The hotel is a little old and everything musky as all other hotels deal with the same problem .

We stayed here on a mystery trip with national holidays and to be honest this hotel is in desperate need of a refurbishment. The rooms were really dated in every way and it felt like I was back in their 80s!The floors were so creaky that when you walked about our friends below us on the lower floor said it sounded...

We stayed here as part of a national holidays night away. Found the hotel nice and clean ,staff dead friendly good nice. Only have one minor fault 1. The floors are awful can hear every step every turn in bed from rooms above below and beside your room so as a light sleeper I was awake most of the night....

we went to rivers edge as a 'older ladies' hen party and i cannot compliment the place enough! the staff were amazingly friendly, they treat you like long lost family and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. they are very informative about what you can do in the area and really work hard to make sure your stay...

We have been on a few national coach trips now and I have to say this one to the rivers edge hotel Gateshead has been the worst . Where do I begin , well the room was like going back to the 80s shabby wallpaper, rotten windows, creaky floorboards, no TVs remote, no hairdryer, as for the bathroom still had...

We were part of a coach group staying here for the arrival of 2016. The staff seemed untrained in every way for a normal day, never mind the biggest event in our calendar. We were just left to fend for ourselves. A singer turned up but she also had to look after herself, she was given no timetable whatsoever. There...

Yesterday my wife and I had our wedding celebrations at the River's Edge hotel and had the best day ever. We booked the hotel 2 years ago when it was The Elephant on the Tyne partly because of the views of the river but mainly because of the owners at the time as they really sold the hotel to us...

OMG. This was The Elephant on The Tyne, but under new Ownership since February 2015, and renamed. Don't know if definition qualifies this as a hotel. Zero * Rating Themed Room grubby and dark, needed decorating, handle missing off bath, shower leaked, taps difficult to turn off, panel coming off bathroom door, Window difficult to close, floors creaked in room...

We stayed here for two nights and found the hotel to be perfect for a weekend in newcastle. The only small things we found were, the bedroom was very hot at night and the shower was very temperamental, freezing or scalding! Also not walking distance to city so taxi is definitely needed. However the bed was very comfy, the staff...
