The room was so small as was the bed, which didn't have sheets to fit it, too small. I felt that they put a single sheet on a very small double bed. We had to try n remake it on the second night. Pillows hard as rock, asked for a replacement on day two, still waiting and we left today. We asked for a larger room or least larger bed, nope we are full so you have to take it Cobwebs all over the ceiling, wall paper falling off, skirting boards I can only describe as manky! Cleaner did come to clean cobwebs but we were still in the room! Eh wait until we leave for the day. Used Covid for non servicing of rooms, have to ask at reception for towels etc......although no one used the sanitiser they said we had too (remember covid, servicing of rooms!) We paid £174.00 a night for this awful room. We were up in Shetland for Up Helly Aa which was brilliant but the hotel was anything but.

It’s a shame the rooms didn’t match up to the main reception and bar area of the hotel. They really require updating, the general condition of the rooms is not very good at all, the walls and ceiling are in bad condition and the mattress is ridiculously soft. The food and drinks we good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a total disgrace! The single room allocated was less than 7m square. Dead flies in the light shade. The shower had mould in the corners, the sink was so small one hand filled it, had to squeeze in behind door to access toilet and then had to sit at an angle to avoid banging off hot towel rail. On complaining the scruffy looking manager shrugged and said “your employer booked a single so that’s what you get”. I asked if I could pre-order 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast the evening before, same manager said “chef will be too busy” Cost to my employer for the stay? Discounted rate of £125.00

I should start with that the front desk folks were very kind and super-helpful. The folks working in the restaurant were kind but often seemed as if they just woke up from a nap and weren't ready to interact with anyone. Melancholy. The front exterior of the hotel is a little deceiving as it looks so modern. Once you enter the hotel it immediately changes to a very 90's feel, and then when you get to your room it feels like you're staying a few nights at your grandmother's house. I'm assuming they're going through a slow remodel as some of the rooms on their website look very nice with modern amenities. My biggest gripe about this hotel was the bathroom. My particular room had the toilet right up against the wall and the heated towel right right next to that. So you have to sit sideways on the toilet so as not to burn your leg on the towel rack. I'm not a big person and I still had to sit sideways. It works, sure, but it's kinda weird. The room was clean but not as clean as it could be. Needed a good dusting. The painted over wallpaper was peeling in a lot of places in the room which made it feel very run down. There is a huge flatscreen TV with lots of channels if you get stuck inside or just need some wind-down time in front of the TV. The breakfast was pretty good, you have a lot of choices from cold to ready-made hot options. The dinner at the restaurant is decent. A good amount of options and the food was all pretty good. Someone else mentioned their steak was cooked poorly but mine was cooked to perfection. No complaints. I would stay here again but I would request one of the nicer/newly remodeled rooms.

The only thing that let's tge hotel down are the rooms! Staff are very friendly. Breakfast & dinner both lovely. The situation of the hotel is great. The rooms - oh my. The good, the TV is huge with lots of stations, The bad, cleaning is minimal. Really needed a deep clean. Skirting boards & behind bedside table were covered in dust. Curtain fell off rail when I closed them. The ugly, Shower fell off stand, showerhead split in 2 & the dirt that came out was awful. Please if you don't have the cash to refurbish, please just clean them properly. Such a shame as the staff & restaurant are nice.

This was by first stay at the Lerwick hotel although I have been to Lerwick several times. The front desk people were very welcoming, my room was good and had stunningly beautiful views, the bathroom was very well equipped and the hotel meals were very good. I ordered venison the first night and it really was the best venison I have ever eaten. Whoever cooked it deserves a medal.

We had 2 nights at the Lerwick hotel in the family room. The room had what we needed and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was very nice and looked like it had been remodelled, as much newer decor then everything else. Yes the hotel might be a bit worn around the edges but its central, the staff are friendly and we enjoyed the stay.

We picked this hotel for location and it's large car park. It is about a ten minute walk to the harbour. Our room was nice enough, sea view, we don't tend to spend a lot of time in it, as we go sightseeing, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine, the usual continental, and hot food can be ordered, perfect poached eggs with toast. Restaurant is lovely with sea views, we opted for the chicken, was delicious, staff are friendly and helpful. Only downside shower pressure was poor. Other than that, no complaints.

Room rate was £156 per night with breakfast, and that’s the key point: if it were lower then these issues would be less important. This was our first visit to Shetland, and we wanted to include time in Lerwick in a ‘proper hotel’ – it was difficult to find rooms. We saw some very negative review comments but we thought we’d give it a go. Room issues Very hot – heating through an old style wall heater – so we had to open windows to cool the room. Metal surface is close to being dangerously hot. Window frames – as mentioned in reviews, have flaking paint and exposed woodwork. Wallpaper – as mentioned in reviews, peeling – not falling off the walls – but definitely peeling. Toiletries – good for hotels to minimise single-use plastic, but what was provided felt stingy. Breakfast The buffet had few offerings (no bread at all) and lacked appeal: we had a better continental breakfast in Magnus Lounge on the ferry. Service should have been better. We didn’t, but were asked to change room after the 1st night due to a hotel booking error. Positives Spacious room. Nice bathroom: no peeling wallpaper ! Good cooked breakfast.

Visited for a meal. The outside does not look inviting, however, interesting and eclectic decor inside. That said, for goodness sake clean the ornaments, woodwork, light fittings and toilets. Particularly the toilet door handles!!! Whilst enjoying a drink before dining in the restaurant, we couldn't help but wonder about the hygiene of the kitchen and food prep given to the grubby state of other areas.
