For over a year I had planned to travel to Shetland and in October I finally got the chance. All the time I emailed with Sandra, the owner of theB&B. She welcomed me with the biggest smile and we connected over coffee and giggling. What a lady! She did everything for me. The room didn’t miss a thing. She put special treats in the room that she found out I liked. It was spotless clean and even the toilet paper was soft. I am not a big eater, but she tried everything to get me eat. She put all kind of food on the table. We had conversations about nothing and everything! Great place and a beautiful and heartwarm owner! Best place ever!

After reviewing the different accommodation available in Lerwick we chose the Woosung based on the rave reviews. The quaint name instantly grabbed our attention. What a pure stroke of luck.

Built as a merchant's house in the 19th century, Woosung modestly claims to be a B and B, not a guest house.

That said you'll have a welcome saving in your pocket on what Guest Houses/Hotels will cost you. Our stay of 2 nights for two people cost considerably less than one night in a local hotel - and we still had change!

Sandra, the proprietor, is the fairygod mother of B+B landladies. She is so welcoming it's quite unbelievable, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. She offered to pick us up from the day boat when it arrived during the evening - something you won't get from many, if any, B+B proprietors on the UK mainland, certainly not from Aberdeen B+Bs.

The bedroom was spacious and with lots of little extras - digi tv, clock radio, books for reading, free wifi - just ask Sandra for the code, bathrobes, tea/coffee and biscuits of various kinds, and a little fridge with a generous supply of mik and some diluting juice! Sandra even provided two trays with plates, cutlery and a bottle opener if you get a "take away" meal!

The bathroom is shared and although bijou, is a bathroom, not just a shower, with a square "sit in" bath and shower.

The breakfasts are to die for - certainly no need for lunch after one of Sandra’s breakfasts, with plenty of choice - cereals with home made fresh fruit salad, and or yoghurt, orange juice, and a cooked breakfast including fresh "free range" eggs that even those with a gargantuan appetite couldn't fail to be hungry afterwards.

We hope that we've not shot ourselves in the foot and when we come back to Shetland we will be able to stay at the Woosung and it's not booked out! We've stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels around the UK and whilst the accommodation in some might be better, Sandra certainly could beat them hands down for value for money and a "no nonsense" approach as to how to treat her guests. We certainly hope to be back again. Thanks Sandra for making our trip so enjoyable.

We stayed here during our 2 week trip to Shetland and could not have been more comfortable or well looked after. The room was spacious, very clean & well serviced throughout our stay. We were provided with a travel cot in our room and also a high chair at the breakfast table for our 8 month old baby. Sandra, the proprietor, had good knowledge of places we wanted to go to and things to see all over Shetland. This B&B is in central Lerwick, so was very easy for us to access all town amenities. We really enjoyed staying at this B&B - definitely an excellent one, we have rated it higher than any others we have stayed in & recommend to any visitors to Shetland. Thank you, Sandra.

Stayed here and got one of the twin rooms with shared shower room/ toilet. Room was very clean well presented, and had digi TV, fridge, plates and cutlery, and small sink.
B&B is very central but on a quiet street. Breakfast was perfect, big portions and the host Sandra is lovely and very helpful. Would highly recommend this B&B.

In the heart of Lerwick "Woosung" B&B is going to be hard to beat! The landlady (Sandra) was second to none and bent over backwards to accommodate me. I was there on a business trip so needed somewhere central that I could do my work yet have time to explore these beautiful islands.
My room was large for a bed and breakfast and was spotlessly clean throughout my stay as it was cleaned daily with fresh towels and even a dressing gown provided. It had great facilities including free fast broadband internet, freeview television, tea and coffee facilities with plain and chocolate biscuits, sink, fridge, an assortment of books and ample storage for a whole family! The breakfasts (served in a family dining room) were exemplary with a wide range of cereals, fruit juice and freshly cooked breakfasts from "full english" (or is that full scottish...) to bacon butties, omelettes or whatever you could ask for as Sandra would make it. She even did my laundry for me!
Shops, leisure centre, museum, library, golf course, the beautiful coastline, bars and restaurants were all within walking distance - although I would recommend eating at Sandras as the evening meals were fantastic...
If I was ever to return to Shetland I would definitely stay here again - I just hope by writing this I don't shoot myself in the foot and find it booked up!

A small B&B a little out of Lerwick's "city" centre but within easy walking distance. A wonderful warm welcome, impeccably clean (shared bathroom facilities for me), all mod coms available plus some. Higly recommended

Woosung is a perfect place to stay. The rooms are very good equiped and spacious , the breakfast is perfect and Sandra makes you feel very welcome. I went to Lerwick for Up Heely Aa and she even managed to get me a ticket for a hall. A place to return to!

I booked at short notice, visiting for a funeral, and Sandra could not have been more helpful. I enjoyed a first floor twin room for single occupancy and it was excellently equipped, even down to a fridge and foldaway table for a TV supper. The shower room was similarly well equipped - the one point to note is that you have to be fit to negotiate the half flight of stairs down to reach it. But the biggest bonus was Sandra herself - she thinks of everything for her guests' comfort.

Woosung is a gem of a B&B very convenient to the center of Lerwick, on a quiet parallel street just up the hill from the major sights. The rooms are spacious, and include a mini-fridge and microwave so that you can buy and prepare your own food if you like! Sandra does fantastic breakfasts, and is always willing to accommodate special requests. I stayed three nights, and although I know I wasn't the only one staying there, felt like I had Sandra's full attention at all times. I loved our morning chats during breakfast! This B&B is an excellent value!

My mother, daughter and myself stayed with Sandra at the beautiful Woosung B&B from 4th-8th June, 2012. We couldn't have asked for a more hospitable, friendly and comfortable place to stay. Not only was our room spacious with facilities I've never had in a B&B before, fridge, trays, cutlery and crockery, biscuits, sweets and copious amounts of tea and coffee, but also we received exceptional care from Sandra. She was very concerned about my Mom especially having to negotiate the stairs and went out of the way to provide all the extras we required.
If you have the pleasure of travelling to the beautiful Shetlands make sure you stay here. You will not better this place!!! Thank you Sandra and Danny.
