This hotel is a little dated but clean and very convenient for the holiday maker. We were on the 3rd floor with a great view of the harbour. It was very noisy outside on the Saturday night until about2 am. The meals were very good in the restuarant but they have a strange table booking system so make sure you...

The staff at the reception was very kind and helpful. From Kirkwall, I had to take the ferry to the Shetland at 11PM. They allowed me to stay in a reading room for waiting (and resting). The restaurant of the hotel is very good too, with a nice bar managed by young people. The room was a little bit "old...

I had a family funeral to go to unexpectedly and needed a place to stay for 2 nights as I didn't want to have to disturb any of my relations. I have never had to stay in a hotel in Orkney before but would certainly go back to the Kirkwall Hotel. It reminds me of an old slipper, worn but comfy!...

Popped into the Kirkwall Hotel last night at 8.20pm looking for a meal. The place did not look that busy. We were greets by a young boy who muttered something and walked away to the back of the restaurant. We followed him and were sharply challenged by a young female member of staff so we returned to the front of...

I stayed here for two nights in September, on arrival the hotel exterior looked quite run down, the reception much the same and this was repeated in the room. The bath towels (no bath only a shower however) said everything about this hotel for me, they were small and badly frayed at the edges and sides, at one stage they...

Having recently eaten here on nearly 14 consecutive evening we did not at any point experience poor food or service - quite an achievement for any restaurant. All day menu was excellent value for money with a good representation of local Orkney fayre available.

Stopped in here during a camping trip to Orkney. The food here was just fantastic. I've recommended the Kirkwall hotel to so many people since visiting in May. It's great to see restaurants serving local produce including freshly caught seafood and Orkney cheeses. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful.

Would suggest making reservations. We were on an organized tour and had difficulty getting seated for supper one night. Good selection of local Orkney beers and Scotches. Good food. Odd server patterns ex one person sits you down, a different takes your drink order, it is brought to you by a different person, the person who sat you down take...

I was booked into this hotel by my company for one nights stay before traveling offshore. On arrival at the hotel it's obvious from the outset that it requires a great deal of TLC to bring it up to present day standards of comfort. On checking I asked if I required to book a table for my evening meal, the...

we stayed at this hotel for one night in August 2016 and enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is steeped in history and interesting, however, the room we stayed in a was a bit tired especially the bathroom but was comfortable enough. The hotel was pretty much full but they managed to squeeze us in and even discounted the double...
