The Dog is well off the beaten track but 'if you build it they will come'. I used to visit a while back when I worked nearby and it was just a little old pub with a reasonable atmosphere. Since the most recent refurbishment a few years back the Dog is now a great pub; warm and busy with a...

Here right now.. service at the bar is utter rubbish... Its not 10 deep... the place isnt heaving... all i want is for someone to acknowledge me... (And not stand at the other end of the bar laughing and joking with locals)

Dinner for four at our favorite country pub. A busy evening as usual but the service and food were well above all expectations. The dog seems to excel at the busiest ,even with two parties going on the staff had time to engage and provide a lovely evening.

Went today as a recommendation. So glad we did! Absolutely fantastic in every way! Smiling, welcoming staff, excellent food, great prices and superb surroundings. A real treat! I definitely recommend this wonderful place! We sat outside on a beautiful "lawn" and were even visited by a pair of horses! WOW!!!

I was taken to this pub (not sure I could find it again) quite rural. Really lovely ambience and great food. The roast beef was cooked to perfection and great Yorkshire puds with lashings of gravy. Good wine list.

We stayed for 8 nights in July on business and this was our first visit based on a recommendation from a local. I must say that overall the whole experience was excellent. The pub is a busy one and for good reason, so you would expect to wait or slow service as the normal, WRONG! The service was quick and...

We have visited this pub on 3 occasions in last couple of months, always on the way home from a few hours fishing so dressed down to say the least! No one bats an eye, your not made to feel uncomfortable just welcome. I don't think I've ever seen such a broad range of people in one pub. Service is excellent,...

We booked for 6 of us and had a great table in a spacious relaxing atmosphere. Staff very attentive and polite, and the whole place seems pleasant, with nooks and crannies to sit in and in a very attractive wee country village setting. The food was a bit disappointing and for what it was quite costly and smallish helpings. One...

Stayed over but room was disappointing, not a room that was on booking.com pics, bit tired but if they were refurbished I would be...

Of course it helps to arrive in sun at beautiful location and lovely rambling pub with spacious bars lots of nooks and crannies for privacy. Good menu, fun twists to pub favourites including giant scotch egg, stonking steaks and fantastic fish pie. Lunch too was excellent. But whilst rooms were spacious and pleasant these were a little tired and bathroom...
