Excellent inn. Spotlessly clean, lovely room and bathroom, very large and comfortable bed. The welcome is warm and friendly and the home cooking delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days there. If you like whisky you will find Mark very knowledgeable and he has a great selection.

We stayed here on the first night of our holiday. We had been up from 5am that morning and when we arrived we just wanted somewhere to relax and have a good meal. Hightae did not disappoint. We were arrived to a great warm Scottish welcome and immediately felt at home. Our room was great with everything you would need... More

Just returned from our third visit to the Hightae Inn. What a wonderful place this is, we love it. It is truly a charming establishment with hosts who are exceptionally helpful. Our evening meal was delicious and enjoyed in a really nice dining area with oodles of character. This establishment is spotless ,very comfortable and relaxing. If you have not... More

My wife and I loved our overnight stay at the Hightae Inn. An unexpected gem situated not far from the M74, we had chosen it as an ideal location to break our long drive from the south coast of England to the Highlands of Scotland. It turned out to also be a great place to eat and a great place... More

We stayed here overnight on a mini-break to visit the Samye Ling monastery and see a bit of the SW part of Scotland. I had picked Hightae Inn because of the Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. The room was perfect with some lovely touches i.e. lots of interesting magazines to read and Tunnocks teacakes to have with your... More

My wife and I booked room number three and dinner after reading the good reviews in tripadvisor. We had high expectations. The room was spacious, well heated and spotlessly clean (good cleaning of the rooms is something I have grown to appreciate in my travels). There is Wi-Fi and Mark on-hand if you need help connecting. Our dinner was preceded... More

We found the Hightae purely through Trip Advisor when we were looking for somewhere to stay overnight on the way to a week in Scotland. Rather than go for the "hotel off the motorway" we were looking for somewhere a bit different and a bit special. What can I say - it does what it says on the tin! Nice... More

We stayed at the Hightae Inn at the end of August on our way North from London to the Isle of Arran. The inn was recommended by a friend who stayed there a couple of times for the same purpose. He said that it was a really good place to stay and eat. We agree with him. Very friendly and... More

Completely unexpected. Hightae Inn exceeded every aspect of the hospitality business. The room was comfortable, large, and very private with all the modern facilities blended into the luxurious designs of days of old. Mark and Morag Cuthbertson are perfectly matched with their talents, skills, and they generously give attention to each guest, providing them with a lasting memory of a... More

“On a practical note, it was impossible to fill the kettle under the tap in the bathroom basin. Also, fresh milk in the room was provided on arrival, but not available for the early morning cuppa as the owners were not around to request it; uht milk would have been acceptable, but not supplied.”
