Having booked this place based on the company marketing see photo and other reviews on here imagine our disappointment at the reality! We checked in at 4pm, went to our room upon entering you can see the bedroom door appears to have had a tough life. The light was flickering like a strobe in the bathroom, the light on one of the walls was hanging off, the bathroom shower screen had no seal where it meets the bath edge so the bathroom floor gets soaked. The bathroom floor, sink and bath all needed a good clean with the silicon around the bath going black. There was no bath mat either to soak up the water. There was an old door painted and screwed to the wall to act as a table to house the Nespresso machine which needed a good clean, there was also an angle poise lamp on the table that was in an upright position as if you tried to use it all it would do is droop forwards. There was also a crumpled coffee stained menu card, coffee or tea stained wooden tray with cups on. The double bed base was in two halves that didn’t line up. There was a radio on the floor with a broken aerial The paintwork was worn and tired and ceiling was cracked and stained. Clearly the management and cleaning staff displayed no love for this place at all. In the morning despite having booked a room with breakfast I was informed that it was only a continental breakfast and if I wanted English breakfast it was an extra £9.25 each. There was no mention of this when I booked. Clearly an issue I will take up with trading standards. On checking out I spoke to a member of staff about my thoughts of my stay and she wasn’t at all surprised indicating my views she had received many times before. Sorry I didn’t get her name as she had no badge on. If you check out my my reviews you will see I travel and mostly my reviews are positive. If you can find somewhere else to stay in Lymington I would sincerely recommend it rather than stay here. Marstons need a swat team in here to refurnish the room and generate some positivity into the staff.…
The pub is well located in the centre of Lymington and has good secure parking. We were going to a wedding and Jay was really helpful with our check in and allowing us to change before we zoomed off. The bed was large and comfortable and the historic building interesting and quirky. Not a level floor anywhere, which added to its charm! The breakfast was particularly good. A good selection with plenty of veggie options. Quality ingredients well prepared. We felt this was good value and would recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ..... Mark and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The building was charming and quirky with lots of character. Our room was beautiful and even had a sea view which was a lovely surprise and well worth the climb to the top floor. Huge bathroom and the shower perfect. Both dinner (steak was delicious and perfectly cooked) and breakfast amazing. Great location with secured parking. Thank you so much!! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be back ...
A very nice place to stay overnight, very comfortable bed, shower a bit on the small side. Check in and breakfast were good, lovely spread of good quality food to help yourself to and cooked food to order on the menu. Very nice gentleman serving us breakfast and at check in, would definitely stay again if in the area. A lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss in the bedroom and bathroom otherwise it would have rated as five stars.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Very helpful staff who went out of their way to be helpful. When no taxis were available (at 11.30 on a Saturday night) they even organized a lift back to our hotel. Special call out to mark for his help.
Really enjoyed our stay. The beer was good, the dinners and breakfast really good. The staff, well what can I say, charming, fun, efficient, just great Guys ! Stay there again . On yes !! Thanks Guys !
A traditionally styled old world hotel complete with creaky floorboards and an eclectic layout. Dating back to the 13C you feel instantly infused with authenticity. That’s where the character ends and the quality of service begins. The staff are attentive and professional yet also indulge in a little banter which makes a difference: as the receptionist handed my two keys she told me that one was for my room and one the hotel door in case I wanted to go gadavanting until late “can one gadavant in Lymington on a Sunday evening?”. “No sir”. Can one gadavant at all in any night of the year?”. “Probably not sir, no”. All staff were refreshingly pleasant. The rooms are predictably for an old place a little small and tight although perfectly comfortable and decorated. The food is exceptional and the craft ales are the same. I love this place. Being roadside it did get a little noisy. All round it’s as perfect a hotel that I’ve ever stayed in, and very fairly priced too.…
