Very warm welcome, near to main road but traffic noise NOT an issue.Lovely gardens, friendly owners and in a part of the world where a lot of places to stay are overpriced - I think its good value and a good location . Can't give it 5 stars as the decor is a little tired and everything is a bit frilly but...

I don't know what some of the reviews I've read are talking about- maybe they are written by competing & jealous hoteliers down the road! We had a lovely peaceful weekend- no noise from the A40 at all. A great location with amazing countryside views. The whole experience was like visiting your very wealthy country cousin in their mansion. The...

We were looking for a quiet, rural retreat for an anniversary weekend away. Photos made it look perfect but we were surprised by the location of the hotel right off a dual carriageway. Luckily, there was no road noise inside the hotel but you could hear it in the gardens. Our room had breathtaking views over the river but the...

Nice, friendly, slightly quirky English country hotel, in a grand house I will buy when I win the lottery! Comfortable classically styled drawing room: no bar as such but drinks appear on demand! Fabulous views from front (with lawns etc).: no decent views to rear, which is only 100 yards from the A40, although trees screen it. Great food, more...

Myself and nine friends wanted to enjoy the august bank holiday weekend by doing some caneoing on the river wye and walking in beautiful countryside. We found a perfect location in the Pencraig Hotel. It is a very comfortable and friendly place to stay. The owners Liz and Malcolm were incredibly helpful throughout the weekend. We enjoyed two really tasty...

I have just returned from a night's stay at Pencraig Court and feel ten years younger. No - there isn't a spa, pool, yoga sessions or whirlpool - but there is relaxation, good food, peace and quiet (we didn't hear any noise from the road ), and a friendly welcome. Our room was lovely - superb views, four poster bed,...

Found Pencraig via web searches and chose it for its proximity to locations with childhood memories - its near Ross-on-Wye, Goodrich Castle and Symonds Yat, right on the banks of the Wye River. Very pretty location despite being adjacent to the A40 (which surprisingly wasn't noisy) and the hotel itself is beautifully appointed. Although a little more expensive than average,...

My wife and I stayed at the Pencraig to celebrate our Pearl Wedding Anniversary for only 3 nights. Our only downer was that we wish it had been forever. The owners and staff were extremely pleasant and could`nt do enough for you. The hospitality was second to none. Soon as you walked through the door of the hotel (our first...

We first stayed there with a group of friends for New Years Eve 2007. Now I'm not saying that Liz and Malcolm and the team looked after us, but we were back just a few weeks later for a Valentines weekend stay, and there is a group of us going for NYE 2008! Ok, if you want modern design, and...

Pencraig Court is a jewel of a Hotel to be treasured and is of a type that is sadly rapidly disappearing these days. The accommodation, like the reception given to guests, is warmly inviting with nothing too much trouble for the owners. Fed up with chromed modern international hotels? then the Georgian style of Pencraig Court will suit you down...
