I was really excited to show my friend this pub (used to be a favourite a few years ago) but was mortified when we got there. It smelled bad, the bar staff didn't want to be there, the music was so loud we could hardly hear each other (it was late afternoon on a Saturday). We felt really unwelcome and...

Went for lunch today for the first time for years. Very run down, cold and dirty. Pool table and juke box dominates the pub which is a shame. Food an ambience used to be so good. Won't be returning anytime soon.

I cannot believe this pub is in business! I could have been in a tough inner city bar. The Hope and Anchor was such a lovely place to eat and have a drink. However... it's now a tatty pub with surly bar staff and dreadful food. Was not after Gastro, just a nice riverside hostelry ... but shocked at the...

Visited to kill time while waiting for a meeting. Not an expensive place so can't expect too much especially having read reviews. That said, good location to ask into town, comfortable, yes a bit tired in places but it is an old building - separate from the main pub. Good breakfast! Accept this is low season but could do more...

What a shame! Great location, (possibly) friendly staff but that really does not make up for the lack of cleanliness and the shabbiness of the accommodation block. I was so appalled at the state of my room that I had to go and buy new linen - hairs on both pillow and duvet cover. Outside temperature and inside were very...

Brilliant riverside location and could be so much more. Popped in for Saturday afternoon drinks. Bizzare combination of ageing ramblers stopping by for coffee and Deep Purple blasting out across a pool table. More like a town centre pub in the wrong place to tme. The beer was really nice though and everyone very friendly indeed, and I don't live...

Goodness me this place was dreadful and the only reason I gave two is because of the loverly waitress. This place has the potentially to be amazing plenty of parking large gardens by the river. But oh no. The food said fresh cooked food the only thing it was either microwaved or fried. And the quality was awful the portions...

Visited for lunch and wish we had read reviews re the food beforehand, granted it is a lovely location and very popular, so cannot understand why in this day and age, that the food they serve is just so awful.... Their menu claims all food is FRESHLY prepared on the premises..... There is nothing fresh about any of what we...

We visited as a couple for dinner and it was a warm evening so sat on the wooden tables outside. I got up to go in and order and felt something catch my shorts but thought no more. Inside the bar was dirty and dusty and everything was sticky even when I picked up the laminated menu that I took...
