On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception. Room was 52. After finding this room it is fair to say it would win no prizes for comfort and elegance. It was Overlooking bins at the back and decor was in much need of TLC from bedroom to bathroom. The room also had a musty smell and the...

Went on a Sunday in a party of five. We were seated quickly but it took 20 minutes for the waiter to take our drinks order. After another long wait they arrived. When he finally decided to take our order two requested the Ultimate Fish and Chips - none left so ordered the Cod and Chips, one requested the Half...

Booked a superior room for a 1 night stay visiting family. If our room was superior (10) then I should hate to see a standard room. Like a sauna with no way of adjusting the temperature. Bathroom dirty and tired. Old, worn out furniture. Couldn't keep windows open. Asked if we would like a newspaper in the morning and ordered...

Had a superior room... apparently there are three . We found ours in need of a good dusting and some maintenance. Lampshades on bedside lamps were burnt and melted, clearly by bulbs that were not the correct wattage. Handles missing on the chest of drawers which were also very damaged. Whilst the mattress was very comfortable it was only a...

Four of us visited for lunch. We all had the chicken and bacon caesar salad, when it arrived we were all disappointed with it. As a main course it was very small and not worth the money. The place is very tired and the tables was dirty.

Booked in for a night at the Manor to coincide with a visit to the Octagon theatre to see Jimeoin on 9th Feb. The theatre is only about 200mtrs from the hotel so perfect for Kay and myself. Our stay at the Manor was excellent . When I booked on line with Old English Inns we also had the option...

Went here with colleagues who were staying there and people who hosted the supper. Nice atmosphere throughout the public rooms. Table was ready for us when we were ready and the service was prompt and attentive. The menu was full of the usual stock items and then some different dishes. All 6 of us had different dishes and everybody praised...

Went for Dinner and had an excellent welcome, was given a taste of the beer on offer by the barkeep. Sat down in a very comy chair for a drink before the meal. The meal was well presentented , serving staff attentive, what more can you ask for.

Really pleased with the welcoming I received when arriving here late one evening. Everything was simple and I felt sufficiently comfortable as a result to go to the bar alone and buy a drink (as a loan female traveller I don't always feel OK to do this). Room was large, huge comfortable bed and a very quiet night asleep. Breakfast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Refurbished three years ago The Manor is located in the Somerset town of Yeovil with easy access via the A303. An Ideal base if visiting Yeovilton, Sherborne. Built in 1735 by local glover and merchant banker John Daniel, the house was known as Hendford House. After he passed away the house was rented out until 1927 when it became The Manor Hotel. A manor it may not be, but it is certainly elegant enough to be one. Its classical facade and porch are of warm, mellow stone, and to its long single wing, also of stone. It has a cheerful modern bar with scrubbed floorboards and pale beechwood furniture and fittings. Today the hotel is a firm favourite with locals and travellers alike. You will be assured of a very warm welcome and great hospitality. Yeovil is the ideal spot from which to explore Hardy's Wessex. Nearby attractions include Glastonbury Abbey. ... more   less
