Yes, charming hotel in a great location, but there are downsides. We stayed for three nights one weekend in November. Each night there was a private event - a birthday party, a wedding and a christening. Staff energy and common spaces were taken up on making the events happen, which left us feeling like baked beans in a baked bean...

We (couple) stayed here for one night as we were visiting the Opera House. It was reasonably priced and included breakfast! We checked in slightly earlier after a really helpful receptionist checked whether our room was ready for us. She also advised us about parking and suggested places to eat for our evening meal. The hotel bedroom was full of...

Bedroom furniture from the 1930's and a hotel elevator which dates back to and seems unchanged from the 1920's (and that's not a joke). So if that is not your thing then don't stay here. But once you see beyond this the hotel has character and I liked it here once I got over my initial impressions. It also fits...

We booked a one night stay as we were visiting the Opera House in Buxton - lovely old hotel on the main square opposite the Pavilion gardens. Loved the entire place - old England! Pleasant walk in the gardens after breakfast and wandered round the craft fair in the Pavilion. Apparently the hotel is due for a refurb - hope...

We stayed at The Old Hall Hotel for two nights and couldn't fault the cleanliness or comfort of this lovely old hotel. We took our little Cairn Lulu who was made to feel very welcome and we were able to eat in the lounge for breakfast where she could sit with us, although we obviously couldn't take her into the...

I spent 2 nights here recently with family and we really enjoyed our stay. How lovely to find a genuine, proper hotel with charm and character. The staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant manager was fantastic. We certainly felt at home. My room was very nice, with lovely furniture. The bed was comfortable and what a treat not to...

We stayed here for a friends wedding last weekend and my wife and I were happy from start to finish. As any parent knows, if your children are happy, you are happy, so it was good to see that the hotel considers its younger guests as important as the adults! More of that later... Our friends wedding took place in...

We had two rooms for an overnight stay. We arrived about 7:30, but the bar and restaurant had no guests which is always a bit worrying. We decided to go for a walk first. The entire town is heaving with pubs and restaurants - none of which had more than a few tables in use - so we put it...

We stayed here for 2 nights for my 50th birthday and found it to be a nice hotel but a few minor niggles stopped it being perfect. The room we were put in( room 29 ) was a lovely big room and was very clean, however it was a very dark purple colour that made it seem a bit oppressive, it...
