Business trip. Staff very good. Bedroom fine and good size. Breakfast looked okay. Depends how much one pays whether you think the value is good. I don't know so it was fine. Nice garden and conservatory dining room. Bar is a bit of an afterthought but okay

Booked hotel as a surprise for my wife on a visit to the Opera House. The secrecy was maintained by their staff in communications regarding the booking. The room was at the front and had lovely views over the bowling green and Buxton. Staff were very friendly and breakfast excellent. We will be back, Buxton is a fine place to...

Friendly staff Changed our room as the first one offered overlooked the bins and side carpark. If possible ask for rooms at the front - lovely view over the park. Facilities in the room excellent - big comfy bed, good sized towels and plenty of plugs near the mirror for drying hair (good hairdryer provided) and good lighting for putting...

Very enjoyable one night break in Buxton at this hotel. Nice room, friendly staff and great breakfast. Only slight downside was the Brakes delivery van unloading at 7.00am directly below our room as we would have liked to have slept a bit later following a days walking in the Peak District! Great stay though and will definitely return.

What saved us from this rather mediocre hotel (horrid damp smell in the bathroom & a sink which took forever to drain-comfy bed but an old fashioned & old feel-kind of tired feel) was Charlie. Charlie, in charge of the bar that night, was superb...chatty but not overly so, interested & interesting-he made the Lee Wood a pleasurable overnight stop.

A lovely hotel, with a well maintained original feel. The room service, appliances and general condition was excellent, would highly recommend if visiting the Peak District or Buxton. I didn't use the gym or spa, but both look very good and if I brought some gym kit, would definitely have used it!

This was our second visit and very enjoyable. We had a suite which was lovely and contained a very large bedroom and a separate sitting room. The only bugbear was the shower curtain - very old fashioned and it had a habit of sticking to me whilst showering. The breakfasts were good especially the choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and...

We stayed here for one night and although the hotel is a little old fashioned the cleanliness & food were first class. The dining room is a huge conservatory which is lovely when lit up at night, our evening meal & breakfast were exceptional and the staff were really pleasant and helpful ( especially the polish lady who was lovely)...

Stayed at this hotel on business recently. Buxton is a town of largely poor hotels, but the Lee Wood is an exception. Friendly, professional staff, nice breakfast, good sleep, nice gardens/outdoor areas, good location. My room in the annexe was a very pleasant change from anodyne chain hotel rooms - large, stately and comfortable, it was, I guess, a bit...
