After a very hot day walking Offa's Dyke, Mary was so welcoming to us, even providing bubble bath to soothe our tired legs. The room was very comfortable, full of old beams and the bathroom great. After a good sleep, Mary provided a splendid breakfast and kept us entertained with local stories which enhanced our view of the town.

Stayed in twin room overlooking front, very spacious en-suite and comfortable beds. Excellent shared lounge with large TV and great home cooked breakfast. Mary was very friendly and could have entertained us for hours.

Lovely b&b in Hay on wye. A grade 2 listed building but great room with modern ensuite shower. Good private parking to the rear. Excellent breakfast cooked by the owner Mary. Would definitely recommend staying here if visiting the area. One negative: there are lots of stairs to climb and several low beams to avoid!

Thank you so much for your kind words, sorry about stairs but it is rather an elderly building, it was a pleasure to loook after you both. Kind regards Mary

My partner and I have been regular guests at the Rest for the Tired for many years. It is a delightful B&B in a brilliant location. Mary, the owner, provides good quality traditional accommodation, a generous and tasty breakfast, and a friendly welcome. The location is ideal for a visitor to Hay - very close to the book shops, cafes...

This was my second visit to Rest For The Tired and it was great. True to the name, it offered as rest for the tired - I had walked 18 miles over the Black Mountain from Pandy that day, with a couple of friends. Really friendly, clean, welcoming, well-situated, and restful. Can't recommend it enough and look forward to visiting...

I love this place. I have stayed here twice now. It is a wonderful, relaxing old building with wooden beams, big comfortable beds and Mary's lovely breakfasts! I am coming back here soon. And it is above a bookshop. You can't beat that!

Our visit coincided with the winter festival which we couldn't have timed any better. The town was busy, the Christmas light magical and the bookshops to die for. Our accommodation was wonderful, the whole place was clean, warm and inviting. All the rooms have oak beams and as you would expect with a building of its age sloping floors which...

My mother and I stayed at Rest for the Tired for two nights in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our twin room on the second floor was comfortable and quiet (despite overlooking the street), with the individual character that only comes from an old building. We chose Rest for the Tired partly for its convenient location and partly for...

We stayed for 2 nights and could have stayed longer. Our room was located just above the fish & chip shop beside the bookshop. This didn't inconvenience our stay in any way. There were 3 of us and we still had lots of space in our rooms. In fact the bathroom was huge. The room was very clean and tidy...

Just had my second stay at Rest for the Tired. Such a cozy, comfortable place to relax and enjoy a holiday. Mary is such a welcoming Hostess and makes stay there a delight! Also, very helpful in giving ideas of things to see and do in the area. We will definitely be back--for a third time!

“There are four rooms: two upstairs, one of which has a door suitable for hobbits, one through the kitchen (where I stayed this time) and another one that I have not seen. I would stop in any of them. The owners also have a holiday cottage next door, so for longer stays it may be worth asking them about that.”
