My friend and I visited Hay for a weekend over the late April/early May bank holiday weekend - an early car-parking mishap aside (entirely our fault, albeit the car park is a squeeze), The Bear was a charming and wonderfully relaxing place to spend the weekend. We stayed in two smaller rooms, sharing a bathroom between us, and both rooms...

The Bear is a lovely place to stay. The historic building has been beautifully restored and decorated. Our room was elegant with a spacious bathroom. David was a very welcoming host. He gave us good advice on places to visit and where to eat. The breakfasts were of a high quality. David clearly enjoys meeting his guests.

I stayed here with a friend over bank holiday weekend. We took the option to have two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The rooms were nicely decorated and in keeping with the beautiful old building. The bathroom was modern and everything was super clean. I really liked the lack of individual toiletries, biscuits, bottles of water etc. Hate waste and...

What a gem this place is - we could not fault it - and David and Andrew are the perfect hosts. Best Welsh breakfast ever experienced. The Bear is a carefully crafted mixture of a genuine 16th century property carefully blended with up-to-date modern necessities and touches. It is located in the heart of the town, with a beautiful little...

Exemplary hospitality from David and Andrew, The Bear, Hay. Elizabethan/Stuart former inn converted to a B&B filled appropriately with books and art. Modern, luxurious bathrooms and a gourmet Welsh breakfast.

This B&B is in a beautiful period property fantastically decorated in a contemporary yet authentic and homely style throughout. The place is spotless and the attention to detail and quality of the amenities would make any 5 star hotel envious. Breakfast was wonderful, as were the owners, David and Andrew. Nothing was too much for them, and David's passion for...
