Can't fault the welcome but the service was haphazard and the food not as good as I expected - the herb mash was a bit cold and the garlic bread dry and definitely not home made, despite the owner's assurances that everything was cooked from scratch. The meal was ok but didn't whet our appetite enough to make a return... More

My partner and I arrived at midday yesterday and were instantly greeted by Dave who offered welcomed info about Chepstow and the local surroundings. Our room was comfy and snug - and and more than adequate. After a lovely lunch out, we returned to prepare for our evening at Chepstow castle for a concert and were greeted by dave and... More

We visited due to the real ale on offer but decided to stay for a meal once we saw the menu. We had four lovely main meals and then four puddings which were something else! Amazing presentation and flavours and not badly priced at all. We then asked for a cheeky look at the newly refurbished bedrooms. They are so... More

The whole appearance and feel of the pub has now improved. It has a much more welcoming feel and we felt very comfortable. The whole place appeared clean, tidy, and well maintained. The menu was very good, and it was a lot better than the standard "pub menu" with a very good selection. The food was well presented, and service... More

My husband and I stayed last year and had a pleasant weekend away. This time we were completely "wowed" by the recent refurb that has transformed this coaching Inn. The room we stayed in has a top of the range Hypnos bed and we slept like logs! The ensuite shower room is sparkling and new, with the best shower I've... More

Newly refurbished and nicely done. Staff and locals were all very helpful and friendly. Very close to the centre and to the Castle. RATING I rated 4 not 5 stars as there were little teething problems, that the staff were quick to attend to, and there was no chef so the menu came down to baguettes but that was resolved... More
