Travellers' Choice
A relaxed, friendly pub restaurant situated at the foot of the Wye Valley, The Two Rivers is a great place to eat out in Chepstow. Our carefully-chosen menu of British pub favourites is enhanced with interesting accompaniments and intriguing touches. And our rotisserie oven perfectly roasts Red Tractor farm-assured birds daily, achieving a crisp and tender perfection that lies at the heart of our most original dishes. Dive into colour and flavour as you enjoy an aromatically authentic rotisserie curry or keep it traditional with a juicy half or whole rotisserie chicken. Bringing the kids? They'll love the choice on our children's menu, which includes quality versions of pub favourites for the very small and plenty of fun dishes for the older chicks. Our 23-room lodge is comfortable, well-appointed and right next door. We look forward to welcoming you-for a drink, a meal, or the night.

We stayed for 2 nights in mid Sept 20 ahead of walking the Wye Valley Walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, and there was plenty of parking, We used the restaurant for meals which were tasty and promptly served.

We were really looking forward to our meal, as were pleasantly surprised how much the food had improved since the pubs refurbishment. What a disappointment as the quality of the food had deteriorated so much. The mash was hard and did not taste like potato, the steak pie should have been short crust, but was soggy and flopped on the plate, and the seasonal veg was a small helping of hard peas. The Caesar salad used what looked like lettuce from the core of the lettuce, rather than the leaves. Can get far better food from other pubs in the area for a similar price

Stayed on Saturday as we were attending a concert at the castle. Wasn’t expecting much, but rooms were spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and a super comfy bed. Very well priced and ideally located to the town centre if you don’t mind walking - about 15 mins, but uphill all the way back. Would definitely stay again.

Not a good experience. Reserved a table, arrived on time and we’re seen to our table with an assurance that someone would be with us to take an order for drinks shortly. Several staff working, some clearly not busy, but no one came near us. Left after fifteen minutes. I could have called one of the staff, but that shouldn’t have been necessary. We were in eyesight of the main bar area and we’re just ignored.

It was mid Sunday evening and not that busy. Having waited over 30 minutes for a Sundae dessert and getting to the point that we were fed up, been there nearly 2 hours and wanted to go, I ask a server to chase it up. She immediately returned with them. The ice cream however was completely melted and it was obvious it had been sat in the kitchen waiting for some time. What was worse that during our wait the 4 staff had been wandering back and forward, in and out of the kitchen or just standing chatting. Not impressed paying £13 for two bowls of melted ice cream. Spoiled the whole meal experience.

Welcomed by a friendly manager. Given all relevant information. Rooms were clean and in the heatwave, cooled by air-con. Nice touch to have a pack of biscuits, replaced daily. Very comfy bed, slept well. The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and cooked to order. We also had lunch and an evening meal, good value with the 20% discount. The food was very nice and served hot. All staff were very polite and friendly. A special mention to the blonde lady working the bar on Wednesday, even with a queue waiting and people ordering cocktails, she kept her cool and served with a smile !! Only drawback to this hotel is the hill back up from the Castle/River area.

We stayed for single night midweek. The room and bathroom were spotless and the breakfast was good. The hotel is at the top of a hill and the town is at the bottom. It’s a lovely stroll down the hill to the river but after a meal and a few drinks you may prefer to return by taxi. Room 7 is next to the main accommodation entrance and opposite the pub entrance. We heard nothing from the windows but you did hear the entrance door closing as people came and went(on a Wed not an issue). If you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from pub entrance.

We had two excellent meals here whilst staying in the adjacent Marston’s hotel. Duty manager Emily was really friendly and provided excellent service during our breakfast visit. Food at breakfast was of a high quality and the continental section was continually replenished. Having been extremely impressed with breakfast service we decided to have our evening meal here also. Upon arrival for our evening meal duty manager Jannine was very helpful and ensured we were seated promptly in the restaurant. Our floor server Shianne was excellent throughout and the food was of a very high quality. This is an outstanding pub/restaurant which was impeccably clean throughout and has an interesting and varied menu. I would highly recommend to all.
