This hostel has a beautiful location although be aware that it is a little way out of town and up a very bumpy track, my bike just made it without being rattled to pieces. The hostel was very clean and all facilities more than adequate. The manager, Andrew, was extremely friendly and helpful. The wifi was useful as there was...

I like the remoteness of this YHA, even if the drive down and track up a hill nearly killed our beloved car! Wifi was good we just about got it in our room, which had nice view across the woods, it had a sink but share bathroom. I didn't take a shower because the stains in the bath grossed me...

Many thanks for the review Gorwydd, and for choosing to stay with us recently. We are indeed up a bumpy bridleway (so special permission to us and our guests to be able to drive up here in the woods) just inside Exmoor National Park, so the views aren't too bad really!! Yet we are only 20 minutes lovey walk away...

I stayed there a year ago as a volunteer and felt home immediately. I do love the forest and I could have never imagined that no WiFi would be such a nice thing to happen. The hostel is a really nice building with a big comfortable kitchen and a nice common room where i especially enjoyed the huge windows. There...

Afetr a busy summer, decided to have a break. Booked a night at the YHA in Minehead. Easy to do. Arrived early morning. The hostel was closed until later in the day. We parked our car and went for a walk. Popping in to the local pub at the bottom of the road before a 20 minute walk into Minehead...

We visited the south of England within two weeks with a family of four and stayed mainly in hostels by the YHA. This hostel was the hostel which met most the spirit of old hosteling: no TV (but Wi-Fi for the kids..), situated in an beautiful building in the forest, a bit apart from town (a bit complicated to find...

Many thanks to the Richters for the very kind review. I'm glad you enjoyed our peaceful spot on the edge of Exmoor. The walk up to us from the town on a hot sunny day is usually a huge relief as you go under the shady trees and escape far from the cars and hubbub of town. See you again...

2 adults, 4 children in our own private room with a sink. Shared toilets and a lovely hot showers but for the price it was amazingly good value. All thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hostel is very clean and beds were comfortable. We will go back

If you love nature this is the place to stay surrounded by wonderful forests in a beautiful & peaceful location. The Manager was friendly & polite, our room was clean, the beds comfortable &...

Booked the bell tent as they looked great. It was advertised as beautiful, so I was a bit disgusted to see a tent covered in bird mess. Also, unlike the sample photo on the website, the tent is pitched on such a steep slope that the beds all are at various angles . . . the worst of which is...

Please, in future, do let us know whilst you are still staying with us if there is something not quite right. We are now only able to respond to your review, and...

A lovely place with accommodating and friendly staff. Thank you for a peaceful time away xx I stayed for three nights and chilled out. I cycled, hiked, read a book and saw squirrels and rabbits in the garden plus a fox in the field. I felt safe here. The staff were lovely and everything was unbelievably clean! I had a...

I last stayed here in 1972, when I was actually a youth, and I doubt it has changed much in that time, which in my view is a good thing. The long track through the woods is certainly as I remember it! The warden is delightful, he obviously cares very much about his hostel, and he runs a very organised...

Hi there AggiePirate, and many thanks for staying with us again, if 44 years later!! We're very lucky to have a YHA in such an amazing location...usually the preserve of the rich and famous. So don't wait another 44 years to visit again...see you again soon! I can't take all the credit for keeping our little part of Exmoor so...
