My husband and I went here today after visiting the Welford Park snowdrops. Don't bother! We waited an hour for our roast beef to arrive then I got my meal 10 minutes ahead of my husband. It was lukewarm, beef was as tough as old boots. No apologies for the delay. Others left without waiting for their food. Another lady...

It amazes me that you can honestly think you can walk into the Inn without a reservation and expect to be served immeadiately. Over 100 people had the forthought to book and reservations will ALWAYS take preference over a 'walk in'. Several 'Walk In' people realised that the Inn was full and did indeed leave as you mention but only...

We stopped here after a visit to see the Welford Park snowdrops (recommended) Lovely homely atmosphere and very warm and comfortable. There is a good menu and we thought the fish was outstanding, fresh and cooked to perfection. Excellent choice of soft drinks.

Read good reports , decided to use as a meet point ( One and half hours each ) with my son for dinner on Saturday night. Arrived to a virtually empty pub ( 6pm ) and were shown to table peeling wallpaper and damp patches noticeable. Only one ale out of three available at the bar Despite a reasonably good...

The Gins are amazing..especially the new Christopher Wren....delicious! We're changing the wine list as we speak so you'll have to come and join in a tasting...or three! P&H

We went on a fathers and sons weekend and stayed in the Bell on the Saturday. Staff all very welcoming and the food was excellent. There weren't many locals using the pub but the ones we met were very friendly.

I arranged to have my 30th Birthday Party here after meeting Helen completely by chance. She helped organise things to my exact requirements, arranged food for my guests and allowed me use of the beautiful patio area. The outside space is just stunning with a very large patio that extends round the side of the pub. It has pretty rattan...

We have actually ceased our affiliation with Taste after many years. Far from 'back tracking' this was an offer of good will and we were delighted you enjoyed your lunch. Thanks for taking the time to let me know about this as I will contact Taste again to remove us from their scheme Kind regards Paul

Just returned from a two night stay at The Bell. Our room (number 7) overlooked the "patio/smoking" area so we had people outside our window until the bar closed or they went to bed therefore we could not sleep due to the noise. Upon arrival our room had been sprayed with so air freshener it made my eyes water probably...

'Probably masking the smell of damp' ? What a silly comment! We have oil sticks which naurally dispense a perfume of 'Fresh Linen' Im sorry you found this offensive but having reviewed many comments regarding these I will not be changing this standard as most guest comment positively on this touch.. Thanks for bringing it to my attention though. We...

the first thing I would like to say is that the 2 lads working there were absolutely brilliant and worked really hard to look after you, also the food was nice even though you had to wait a long time and didn't always get what you ordered, a 60 minute wait on the second night there. On the down side...

Thanks for your comments. Such a shame as were told that everyone thought the food was amazing ( good). In fact on member of your party asked for me to congratuate us on the both the quality and the presentation of their dinner. Coconut Ice cream is a deserrt from our a la carte menu at 5.65 a serving. Booked here for a family weekend away due to the convenience to get to Newbury Races. Initially I thought the decor was 'quaint' but over the stay found it more of a strange collection of oddities that were damp and dirty. The view from our room was a boundary fence, overgrown with foliage. On the second night there were guests...

Thanks for your comment . I would have thought its pretty obvious we are in the middle of a major refurbishment ....windows at the front of the Inn are being replaced in their entirity . The Inn has a varied collection of artifacts ,some dating back for over 200yrs! Sorry you were unable to appreciate the 'collection of oddities' especially...
