Popped in to The Hare & Hounds for a bite to eat on our way to a hotel. All of the restaurant staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. There was a good selection on the menu and a 'Great Deal Lunch' which offered two courses for £9.95. We both had a starter of whitebait and a main course of fish...

You are always sure of a friendly welcome when you visit the Hare and Hounds. Had a couple of pints of locally brewed ale and a very pleasant evening. Didn't eat this time but have in the past and have always been pleased with the portion sizes and quality of the food.

The wedding reception was great in the room that hold 76 guests. The food was excellent as was the service at the tables and in the bar. The Maitre D' organised everything really well and the pig roast in the evening was excellent. Definitely recommend it for a wedding reception.

Dear Shawej We are proud to give the small number of weddings we do our very best attention. It is a special thing to be able to make that special day extra special and the thanks goes to our hard working team who really do care. That is the difference, so thank to you and to all of them!! Starting with the positives, just picked this place for a one night stop over. Location wise, with a small dog it was great for a walk in to Newbury. Turn right out of the drive then first right down a footpath takes you in to a pretty posh residential area. Turn left and walk down to a nice park, across...

Dear WeeBaldy Thank you for you review, I would say that we are in the mein, not a busy or noisy pub garden sort of place! I'm pleased the Food was enjoyable and the area in general and that we accommodated your dog, you'll be pleased to know that the window will be replaced forthwith and the carpets are scheduled...

Stayed for 2 nights in August 2016. We had a cottage mews room in the rear car park. The room was small but adequate, generally clean and tidy (except for a few cobwebs !). If you are considering staying here check first if there is a wedding booked as there was when we stayed here. The wedding party took over...

Dear PCarr Thanks for you comments, and I am sorry the wedding disturbed you on one of your 3 nights stay. We do only have 20 weddings per year, it is part of the economics of being able to build "The best restaurant in Newbury". We list weddings on our EAT page on our website and do try to warn...

We stayed here and couldn't fault the hotel, staff, service or food in anyway. However we couldn't say the same for the wedding guests. If you're planning a stay here please check first if there is a wedding or event on that you aren't part of. When in our room we felt like we were right in the middle of...

Dear 1970 Thank you for your honest and reasonable review. My sincere apologies for the behaviour of the wedding guests, and the resultant reduction in your enjoyment of your stay. We built The Barn knowing we would need to do 20 wedding per year to achieve the stunning room we are all so proud of. Having done 38 weddings, this...

Four of us plus Baby booked Sunday lunch on 12 noon on the 21st August 2016. A lovely venue, the resturant was light and airy, spotlessly clean, no screaming kids or people trying to force as much free salad down ther neck as possible. The roast dinners were first class and during the dinner my daughter had to leave the...

Stayed a couple of nights and ate there both nights. Food was quite good, especially the fish pie which was excellent. The room was good. A fair size & clean. Lots of off road parking and the road outside is quiet from about 11pm to 5 am. All in all I would stay here again.

The Hotel itself is lovely, food was very nice and the proprietor was extremely keen to be of assistance. The room itself smelt wonderfully clean, but a little small for the cost.
