My friend and I had the unfortunate experience stay at this hotel 2/12/18 for two nights. The first impression on entering the hotel was good as it did, as the name suggests, look rather "tired but grand". The first room we were allocated can only be described as a cubby hole.

The location is wonderful. It's really sad that it is so run-down. in it's day, this would have been the epitome of glamorous luxury, but that day is long gone. Carpets were worn, paper in the bathrooms was peeling. everything was a little worn. I discovered that the chain also

The food is cold,there’s always seagulls on the windowsills, rooms are dusty and mattresses are not clean. The place is too big for the management clearly. However, the staff are pleasant but are always smoking outside the entrance.

There is tea and coffee but those horrible little 'tastes like milk' cartons it didnt lol. The city rooms have no windows so just say that or phone them and say that you dont want to stay in as windowless room

Anyone is welcome in the entertainment room in the Grand. They have resident act doing various tributes. Don’t expect to much but it’s not bad
