This hotel would be great if you are visiting with a church group over 70 years of age. No internet in rooms and it was only available intermittently in the lobby. Very spartan accommodation, saggy bed. Very old fashioned hotel

This is a beautiful building dating from 1826. very much in need of some tlc. It would appear to be geared towards the Christian fellowship. Groups of up to 60 gather for Evangelical meetings , hymns and readings in the beautifull music room which was added 20 years after the house was built. first night we stayed was in the...

Beautiful, large, old building in a tranquil garden setting. Generous on-site car parking. The whole place is very spacious. I had a good sized single room with a particularly big en-suite. Bathroom was immaculately clean and benefited from a superb thermostatic shower in an oversized shower cubicle. Bliss! Very good buffet style, help-yourself breakfast in a particularly pleasant breakfast room....

The room is outdated and dirty. The fan in the smelly, unclean bathroom doesn't turn off. The mattress has actual lumps in it and you can feel all the springs. The windows do not close properly and there is black mould around the window sill. The whole room has a horrible smell of mould and mildew. It was definitely NOT...

Wonderful hotel for B&B, we had a superior room (garden view) which was well-equipped (slippers, dressing gown, tea/coffee, hairdryer, TV), nicely decorated and spacious even with travel cot (provided) and huge bed. Breakfast was delicious (cereal, toast, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, full English cooked) and we ate from the bar menu two evenings which was tasty and reasonably priced. The gardens...

There are some reasonable rooms here but ours was not one of them. Dated - bath but no shower, very old building with plenty of woodchip wallpaper holding the plaster together. It was warm - a good thing in the English springtime. Bed was well worn - we sort of sagged into it. Clean but difficult to tell as everything...

Book this hotel whilst visiting family, was minutes from the town walking tucked away in beautiful established gardens. Our room was at the front of the building with beautiful windows. Hotel clean and comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was lovely and staff were pleasant. Would stay again perfect spot in Sidmouth and great to walk the coastal paths.

Beautiful house friendly staff but would of liked a tv in our room. Garden was lovely and so was the swimming pool. Not far from town centre so easy walking distance. And the beach. Nice over night stay

A grand country house in a previous existence, now all the appearance of being in terminal decline. Only the conference/meeting room showed any evidence of past glories, the rest was shabby and in need of a great deal of updating. Our room in the "annex" was dreadful with furniture that wouldn't be out of place in a third rate flea...
