On our way to the local donkey sanctuary we stop for lunch at the Blue Ball. Having ordered the steak and ale pie what a great surprise to see it arrive at the table with a shortcrust pastry top. A proper pinched edge shortcrust pastry lid not the ubiquitous puff pastry disc just plonked onto a dish of meat and...

My husband and I ate here on the recommendation of our B&B proprietor. We were not disappointed. I had beef and ale pie and my husband the bone in pork chop. They were served promptly and the food was hot. Service was great and attentive. I recommend it highly.

Food was lovely, though service slightly on the slow side. A great menu and a fantastic specials board. The fish is cooked to perfection, and those that had the steak said they were OK, but nothing special. Could do with improving the pudding selection as more on the traditional side...however with what choice there was, it was still yummy. The...

The food was basic and few options for specific diets. However, the staff were friendly and helpful and there was a good choice of beers. Plenty of car parking and it is an attractive venue. Reasonably priced to eat out.

A booking for 6pm you would expect the car park to be empty. Not a bit of it! Steak at £10.95 was a good deal given the quality of the meal and the beer was well cared for as well. Sufficiently impressed to book Sunday lunch in a few days time.

Ate here twice recently and whilst it was ok I would not rave about the food. We had a carvery on the Sunday and only three meat choices, carved by grumpy who used the same knife to carve each different meat. The beer was good and the inn was clean. Bar staff were excellent.

We have dined here several times when visiting my mother in Lyme Regis as she likes eating there. The food has always been good though somewhat expensive in some cases. Never had a problem with the service or quality of the food.

During lunch I visited the gents. Unbeknown to me, the stepped and tiled floor was wet, the room was gloomy, and there was no Wet Floor warning notice. I came a sudden terrible outlet. I wanted two elderly customers (one on crutches) and immediately notified the staff. I did not wish to make a scene at the time, as we...

Stopped off here on the off-chance during a family holiday to the area. My Mum, Dad and I enjoyed our visit very much. The Inn is traditional and full of history; wooden beams, a lovely fire place and atmospheric bar. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Having had distinctly average food throughout the week, we discovered this pub on...
