I stayed in this nice little hotel with friends dispersed across Ballater for a cycling trip. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and helpful, and the room was good value for money. Clean and comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and the breakfast was good. I'd stay again if I were in the area.

We had driven up to Balmoral with a friend to get her out of the house and since it was too cold to tour the grounds we drove on to Ballater and found the Alexandra Hotel Restaurant for lunch. We each ordered soup and also an order of pate and along with a draft beer and two glasses of wine...

I spent 2 nights in this quiet, central hotel with my small dog. The staff could not have been kinder or more welcoming. They were considerate towards other residents at breakfast (who might not have welcomed doggie company) by setting me up with a table in the lounge bar. My room was immaculate, spacious and set at the back of...

Spent just about the most lovely afternoon having drinks and lunch in this highland getaway. The hotel owner come barman come waiter did it all, and with the ease of a true professional. The Royals can have Balmoral - I'll happily take The Alexandra!

I ate at the Alexandra Hotel with a group of 6 other cyclists after we had ridden 100 miles in the Etape Royale. I called ahead to make a reservation as i knew Ballater would be busy. We only ate in the restaurant, which was classy and clean. The staff were friendly and took our orders as soon as we...

Stopped for a night after an exhausting journey travelling the Highlands. The ladies were really welcoming, smiley and helpful. Had dinner in the restaurant and we all loved the steaks and pies! Very comfy beds and clean rooms. Loved the detail of the dressing table! I would definitely go back!

Stopped in for evening meal while in Ballater for an evening concert. Great pub grub, freshly prepared with top notch ingredients and nicely presented. Totally attentive staff, lovely bright clean surroundings. Spotless toilets, well stocked bar and packed with customers 10/10. Nice to see Ballater rising again from the floodwaters. May the Scottish Government put a flood prevention budget in...

While staying with family in the local area my husband and I went for a meal here. It was about our 3rd or 4th visit and every time the food has tasted and looked fantastic, the prices have been reasonable and the service has been excellent. I would strongly recommend the food and if the hotel stays are as good...
