A really nice hotel with a very grand old appearance. Our room was adequate with a decent view of St Cuthberts. Nice and clean. All the staff were really helpful and curtious. I would definitely recommend this hotel over others I've stayed in Carlisle
We chose this hotel due to the location as it’s right at n the middle of the shops & bars but not that you would know as we never had any noise issues.

Hi Claire. Again, hope this reply is not too late. It really depends on what you are looking for. There is a pub called the Sportsman (leave at the rear of the hotel and turn left). This serves good real ale and has a jukebox but is a friendly placed to drink. For a bit more excitement try the Kings Head
