We spent a night here during a 3 day walking holiday. Arriving late afternoon after a 15 mile walk we were warmly welcomed & given a pot of tea & delicious home made cakes. The barn is a magnificent structure, beautifully restored to a very high standard & fitted out with great taste. Our rooms were very comfortable & like...

We had a very enjoyable stay in this immaculate conversion of a 1650 barn, surrounded by a lovely garden. Christopher and Clare have created a charming and well equipped retreat, with every need provided for. Pretty bed linen, sparkling bathrooms with a tub as well as a shower, comfy sofas in the living room, and a generous cooked breakfast. A...

Such a gorgeous place up a long drive way. 100 year old beautifully restored barn conversion. Have stayed many times now and it's always a pleasure. Gorgeous gardens with roses, always a dog or two to pat, not forgetting the cat. Great cooked breakfast and always fresh fruit and bread. Lovely hosts, can't wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we were absolutely charmed by this place. We were greeted warmly with a pot of tea and biscuits before settling into our lovely room overlooking a very well kept garden, which we later explored. There is a variety of wildlife and birdlife and we were able to watch a green...

We have stayed here several times now, always with much enjoyment. Immaculate rooms and en suite facilities. Delicious breakfast, with a range of fresh fruit, a new loaf to toast, and tasty cooked food, prepared by the owner, Christopher. A lovely barn conversion set in peaceful gardens and grounds.

Two night stay here and we weren't disappointed. Our hosts were so helpful with suggestions for local places to east and walk. Wonderful breakfast with home made bread and marmalade. Would highly recommend.

Splendid B&B for comfort, quality, cleanliness, architectural interest and beautiful surroundings. We stayed for one night on our way to the Harwich ferry and would love to stay again on our way to the ferry or to Stansted airport. The owners are very friendly and serve a really good breakfast.

Paid our second visit to Knowles Barn. This is a lovely place to stay, with well-appointed rooms and immaculately clean en suite facilities. The house is surrounded by peaceful grounds, with horses grazing and the sound of birdsong. Breakfast, cooked to order, is delicious - we had rhubarb to start with, marvellous! The bread is freshly baked. Altogether, the height...

Stayed for one night whilst on business in the area. I appreciated the warm welcome and service was just right, without being over attentive which I have sometimes experienced when I am the sole guest. The bedding, towels and toiletries were all to a very high standard and details like fresh milk in the room was noted. Breakfast, with the...
