I booked the William Cecil for a business breakfast event. My booking was dealt with very quickly and efficiently, the whole process was very smooth and they were very helpful. On the day of the event everything was set up perfectly to what we had asked for and all the staff were lovely and extremely helpful throughout the event. Thank... More

This hotel is full of history, historic portraits of people from the era of Elizabeth 1st and it has charming varied and quirky rooms. Not far off Christmas and I loved the decorations, not over the top, but adding to a warm cosy feel. Glowing! We had a fabulous time and it's a 10 minute walk down into historic Stamford,... More

Stayed here with my wife and little dog for 2 nights 24/11/16 to 25/11/16 for Christmas shopping at Stamford market and Burghley house Christmas fair. What an experience this hotel and its staff are a credit to their business, nothing was too much trouble the staff were polite civil and attentive without being over the top. The food was interesting... More

The William Cecil is neither overwhelming nor underwhelming. Well that was our experience anyway. We stayed for 2 nights with some friends. We ate there both nights - once in the restaurant and once in the Conservatory. We also had lunch there as well. We stayed in the Lodge, which is located down a dark (literally) side access path. The... More

Stayed two nights where a Wedding and Reception were being held. Easy access from the road systems around - on the edge of town, parking good. Nice greeting and information about the rooms from Reception. I was in a double room on the ground floor; it was spacious and comfortable. However, don't take your electric toothbrush or shaver (if needed)... More

A one nighter stop off for a group of us heading from Norwich to Newcastle. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Comfy bed with well equipped rooms. Had to be careful of steps down into the bathroom at night, but it is an old building so had lots of character.

We were married here on 5th November 2016 and cannot fault the hotel in any way. From arrival on the Friday to check out on the Sunday the staff could not do enough for us, decorating different rooms, setting out games and generally ensuring the smooth running of the whole day. The food, drinks and rooms were all amazing. The... More

On arrival there were no staff but when they did arrive they were friendly and helpful. Looking at the menu we were recommended the Roast Pot. Roast dinner on a platter for 4 or 8 people. Seemed like a nice twist. Shame though that when it was delivered to the table the platter dish was cold meaning all the vegatables... More

Charming and elegant is this bed and breakfast. Altho' the room was small, its amenities were superb (aperitif, French press coffee maker, etc). The bath was large and well appointed, a truly beautiful room. Breakfast was beyond expectations: beautiful buffet and superb cooked to order entrees. Afternoon tea by a roaring fire was not to be missed: delicacies beautifully presented. Staff... More
