It's hard to describe this place - the creepy photos, the bizarre decorations - but guess that's just personal taste and this is clearly a home where they rent rooms rather than a proper hotel. And it's cheap, so that's fine. What isn't fine is how dirty it was - flys creeping out of the shower, days worth of dirty...

I stayed there in Sept'13 whilst visiting family and the service was great and relaxed. The breakfast was a great start to the day and more choice than you get in a hotel. Far better to stay here than a Travelodge. The room was massive, with internet.

Oh dear! No outside sign, a lady with an almost incoherent accent, a room like something from a communist country, no soap, an inadequate duvet, one of the twin beds unmade, a box of old tooth brushes left outside the bathroom......... no no no........never again

Sometimes it's just great to meet people who rejuvinate your faith in the human race as genuinely kind and friendly people. We stayed for one night while attending a function at a very close hotel and the owners were very amenable to our circumstances (2 adults, 2 small children). Their manner with the boys was outstanding. The attic room is...

We stayed here for one night. It was a relatively low cost option so we weren't expecting The Savoy but were very surprised by the amount of things everywhere, both in bedrooms and communal areas. The kitchen was dirty with empty frying pans left everywhere and milk left on the counter all day. There was a small dog running around...

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago with my sister, I did the booking online and I got to the address at 12 pm but no one was answering the door. I called, I knocked, I phoned, nothing was happening. I waited up until 13.40 (that's 100 minutes, yes) when another person that was staying at the guesthouse came...

Really strange one this. I'm torn between "wouldn't return" to "wonderful people" so I'm going to stay in the middle really. I paid £40 for the night, which is very cheap indeed. Upon arrival we spent 10 minutes going through a set of keys to find one for the bedroom and one for the front door. With this sorted I...

I stayed here a year ago, and am looking for a place to stay in Darlington again, and was reminded of my stay last year at Trudy's Guest House, I see it has now gone down to number 3 but still can't understand why it is ranked so high (it was number 1 when we stayed!!!!) My daughter and husband...

Run by a nice couple. BUT room was stuffy and I could not open the windows (on ground floor). Just a partition door between my room and Kitchen so I stayed awake until they went to bed and woke when the fist person wanted breakfast. Bathroom was shared and the lights did not work properly in one of them (like...

We stumbled upon this place by accident and in a small way out of necessity. It’s so nice to arrive to a warm welcome, and Trudy’s did it for us. Nice equipped rooms with comfortable beds to sleep and generous delicious breakfasts to get you going the next day. For the rates this place represents excellent value for money. And...
