As others have implied, this place has so much potential but it is heavily wasted. We'll start with the room - 301. The most important part is the bed. Here you have 2 doubles (aka 1950's) and they are 2 of the most uncomfortable mattresses known to man, especially the one closest to the window. They are completely worn out...

Stayed here for 2 nts while visiting family in the area. We took our little dog, they charge £10 per visit, she wasn't aloud in the main restaurant but was in the bar area where we had breakfast and dinner the first night. Lovely views from our room looking out to the harbour entrance, I would go back to this...

Spent Saturday night here with my wife last weekend - just to get away! Great hotel right on the harbour Pleasant friendly staff. Very clean, large and comfortable room overlooking the sea. Bar and restaurant very good, food all freshly prepared and good value and quality. Would definitely stay again!

Had a lovely breakfast overlooking Poole Harbour, the food was well cooked and the 2 staff Natalie and Shelby were excellent in making our working party welcome. Take advantage of their 2 for 1 breakfast hopefully they will carry it on throughout the year.

We had a room at the side of the hotel and so looked out over the harbour which was great even in the rain. Perhaps some more money could be injected into the hotel to spruce it up a bit as it looking a bit tired in places as it is in a fantastic location. The breakfasts are very big...

I had to find a place to stay overnight in Poole with my dog and this came up. The staff were nice, the decor is not spectacular - a little outdated - but there is nothing wrong with it and my room was clean and spacious, with a good sized bathroom. They provide a very nice brand of soap, shampoo,...

Overnight business stay. Booking process was simple, welcome was warm, room was a little tired in terms of decoration but bed was comfortable with good quality linen and towels. Restaurant for meals and breakfast was light and bright with the sun blaring through the windows. Service was good at both evening meal and breakfast and like other reviews..... not quite...

We visited the Salterns around 3 weeks ago to enquire about a wedding ceremony and celebrations. The very helpful man showed us around and gave information regarding the rooms, ceremony and so on. He showed us the complimentary bedroom for the bride and groom, which was 'very tired' at best. During the 'tour' (which was unannounced and not pre-arranged), he...

We only stayed at this hotel as it was the venue for a party we were attending. They have tried hard to make the public areas smart, but you don’t have to look to hard to see the remnants of many half hearted refurbishments probably going back 40 years or so, in parts it was looking dated. The restaurant was...

The manager Louise was amazing , nothing was to much trouble. Everything was moved to suit us. The food was excellent. The staff very helpful & lovely. It was very good value too. We would strongly recommend. Our room had stunning views across to Sandbanks.
