We stayed at Det Hanseatiske the night before a trip on the Hurtigruten. We booked well in advance and were not disappointed. It's the only hotel that's right in the historic Bryggen and the wooden framed building has been cleverly adapted as a hotel. Each room is uniquely furnished with lovely bathrooms, supremely comfortable beds and even six sprinklers in...

My wife and I stayed here for 2 days earlier this month - November 2014. What we liked: 1) Great location. 2 minute walk to the Funicular. Good restaurants and pubs around. 2) 10 minute walk to the city centre 3) Quick check-in and friendly staff 4) Wholesome breakfast. Free tea and coffee available at the restaurant all day. We chose this hotel because it is located in the central, old part of the city. We could not have chosen better! Located in converted "long houses" dating back to the early 18th century, it is modern and beautifully presented. The room was wonderful, and in the bathroom was a delightful old-fashioned footed freestanding bathtub. The staff were all so...

Stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely hotel built in 1703. The rooms are spacious, clean and are luxury decorated. Great staff, good food in the restaurant and a cozy hotel bar. Just watch out.. The place is haunted (both by an old lady as well as a dog). My colleauge claims she got the haunted room however, so she did...

I'd been to see this hotel years ago and I'd always fancied staying there. With family in Bergen there's never been the need previously, but when attending a wedding in town we decided to treat ourselves to a night Det Hanseatiske Hotell. I'm happy to say it met all our expectations. Great room, very friendly people in the reception, but...

A very nice hotel that is centrally located. The rooms are very spacious and nicely furnished. Our bathroom was large, with a beautiful bathtub and a separate, large shower. The breakfast was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The location was excellent for exploring Bergen- restaurants, attractions and transportations were all walking distance. I believe it's part of Bryggen, so it was big on atmosphere, charm and history. The front desk was friendly and professional- no complaints there. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We tried the hotel restaurant (FG)...

Only got to stay here one night while in Bergen but really enjoyed everything about this hotel. The location is perfect, close to walking to all sights in the downtown and historic area and about a 15 minute walk from the port and train station. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and a lovely comfy sitting area...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stay at the Hanseatic Hotel is a very special experience. We have invested all our expertise and passion into creating this high quality hotel, situated at Bryggen in Bergen. With its location at the very heart of historic Bergen, the hotel is ideally placed, whether you are travelling on business or pleasure. The Hanseatic Hotel is not your 'standard' hotel. The hotel has been built on historic ground within the Finnegaarden Trading House at Bryggen, which is inscribed on Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites. We have retained the wharf style and architecture, and the old timber walls have been preserved in several places.Every room is uniqe! We can offer 37 characterful double rooms featuring exclusive furniture and unique bathrooms, creating an interior that is redolent of the time when Bryggen was a Hanseatic port. The Hanseatic Hotel will appeal to those looking for more than a standard A4 hotel, and who wish to spoil themselves in attractive and charming surroundings. As the city's most outstanding hotel and restaurant complex, we want our guests' stay to be memorable and can offer delicious culinary treats that will appeal to every taste. We have several restaurants serving exquisite traditional and international cuisine, a cosy lobby bar, in addition to excellent conference facilities and free WiFi.Our hotel and restaurants, as well as our conference facilities, with their unique character and central location, make for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. We can organise every type of privatefunction, from weddings to confirmations and Christmas buffets. A short distance from the hotel is the famous Fish Market (Fisketorget), where seafood connoisseurs mingle. Another popular tourist attraction is the Fløibanen Funicular. The airport bus and the railway station are just a short distance away.Welcome to a memorable hotel and culinary experience! ... more   less
