I stayed at Pension Kraml for a week in April and it offered excellent value. I stayed in a single room and paid 35euro a night, which was only slightly more expensive than Viennese hostels. The location is amazing, only two tube stops from the Nachsmarket, very easy to get to the centre of town or go shopping. The room... More

We booked the Pension Kraml based on the reviews here. The Pension itself is clean and the breakfast was exceptional. What we were taken aback by was the unfriendly reception we received. We took the night train from Krakow to Vienna and arrived at 6 AM. We were advised that the earliest we could come to the Pension was 7:30... More

I stayed 4 nights at the Pension in late April. We choose the cheapest room at 56 Euros with a shared bathroom. The room was much larger than I expected, about 15' x 15' with a 9'+ foot ceiling. There was a big sink with shelving beside to stow all our toiletries. Two single beds made up beside each other... More

Pension Kraml is a family run hotel. The owners are very nice and helpful and the location is great. Booking can easily made over the Pensions website. Doubles start at EUR 56 including buffet-breakfast - that is great for staying in the center of Vienna.

Excellent Austrian breakfast, friendly and hospitable, good value for money. I was concerned that the location was a little out of the centre but actually it is a great location. A short walk to the Zieglergasse underground which connects so easy around Vienna. Walkable distance to Westbahhof for the next train journey. Near the Mariahilferstrasse for shopping. Flea market at... More

For just 35 euros a night for a single room (breakfast included), this place rocks! Nice room with a good bed, excellent breakfast, and very friendly people. The location is good as well (close to public transport). Although it has shared bathrooms and toilets, there was never a wait and everything was kept clean very well. One morning, I was... More

Not far from the Westbahnhof, 15 minutes to the opera and 3 minutes to a main shopping street was just perfect for 3 days Vienna, The hotel is old, but very well maintained, very good breakfast, the owner could be a little more friendly but all by all excellent, especially the price in Vienna

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariahilf
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
