The location of this hostel is definitely outside the city center, but once the construction on the metro is finished, will be more easily and quickly reached. It's a quiet hostel, with a great front and back yard - very peaceful and green. It has a lot of things to do at the hostel. The staff were very helpful and...

Train station is close by however the metro was closed so made travel into the city difficult (not the hostel's fault obviously.) The beds were quite uncomfortable and the facilities dated. The lounge was quite good for meeting people and the outdoor areas are lovely! Otherwise it felt a little impersonal and the staff didn't seem to care about you...

It was the worst! It is so far away from EVERYTHING (like 1 hour with public transport). You waste a lot of time and money. It is a very large dormitory (15 people) and only 2 toilets and showers!! And so dirty!! It smelled horrible because a girl brought Chinese food into the room 😒 and it smelled for the...

Stayed a couple of nights here and it was fine. I'm a girl and stayed at a 20 person mixed dorm, but had no waiting to take a shower and slept in an ok bed. Breakfast is included which is the best part, and even though it's a little bit outside of the city it's very easy to get around,...

When we stayed here we were robbed of approx. ~400€. Upon arrival they did not check our passport and just asked us to write down our ID numbers without verifying them. Ironically the guy who checked in behind us was the one who robbed us and his identity wasn't verified leading us to think that the hostel may be in...

Conveniently located to a train station that is at minimum a 20 minute ride to the HBF. In addition trains to this station stop before midnight, so if you want to experience the nightlife keep looking. Pay the couple dollars more and stay in a hostel closer to the things you came to Vienna for.

Located out of the city proper, but close to the subway/railway station. We had to lug our baggage up a steeply inclined road and we were very tired when we got there. The dorms are basically one giant room subdivided into smaller groups of bunks by wooden partitions. I expected it to get very noisy at night but it wasn't....

I stayed here with 3 of my friends for 2 nights in a four person private room with en-suite bathroom. The room was clean along with the linen. but the measure issue was that there was only one charging socket in the whole room. this made charging the phone, my camera batteries, etc really hard. also the pillow and the...

I stayed in Vienna for one day and night only, which happened to be a Sunday. I also happened to contract severe tonsillitis on this day, I was in a lot of pain and it was also swelteringly hot. I found my own way to the nearest hospital to attempt to get an appointment with little success, when I returned...

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
