We recently returned from a 5 night stay at this wonderful small hotel. I could not find fault with one thing at this establishment!! Even the light in the magnifying mirror which blew out was replaced immediately. Our room enjoyed a side corner with plenty of space, plenty of fresh air from two huge windows, plenty of perfect air-conditioning. We...

In a very good location , near everything : 10 min from the Opera house, 5 min from the History museum, 10 min from the Rathaus. The rooms are a little bit to small, but the staff is very helpful and they really try to make you feel at home. The breakfast is good, so...we will come back

The Hotel Das Tyrol in Vienna was our base last week when the outside temperature was 35 degrees centigrade. The hotel's air conditioning worked superbly, enhancing the "cool" feel of the artwork on the walls and the ceramics on the stairs. Our room (No. 22) was on the side of the building, set back from the Mariahilfer Strasse, and made...

The Hotel Das Tyrol in Vienna was a wonderful place to be for visiting this beautiful city. The staff was very personable and helpful with anything we would require. The rooms were very clean and ours had a balcony which was cool! I loved sitting out there in the early evening before dinner to do some people watching. In spite...

When you stay at this lovely hotel, it is essential that you view the artwork throughout produced by local Austrian artists. The rooms are small, but that is fine for adult couples. The breakfast buffet (complimentary) is high quality. Don't be bashful and order an egg omelete iif you like. The hotel is close to the metro furnishing very easy...

Just returned from a lovely stay at this hotel. There is no better place to stay in Vienna. The location is just up the street from the U-bahn (metro) station and is in close proximity to popular shopping areas, the Museum District and is a short walk from the Imperial Palace and St. Stephens Plaza. Spent two nights and it...

My wife and I spent three nights at Das Tyrol and just got back home yesterday. The room was kept up very nicely. We had some problems with our departing flights and the staff was spectacular in helping us get things under control. They are walking distance from many of the attractions and there are a limitless number of places...

The Hotel Das Tyrol is an absolute gem, located in one of Vienna's most popular and busy shopping areas in the Museum District and a short walk from the Imperial Palace, St. Stephens Plaza, and a host of other significant Vienna places and sights of interest. The hotel is a member of The Leading Small Hotels group consisting 30 rooms...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Das Tyrol recently. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff. The front desk helped with our dining arrangements and we were not disappointed. The included breakfast was outstanding. Choices for all kinds of tastes. The room did not disappoint. Plenty of space and very modern. My favorite was the...

Stayed here 6 nights at the end of May. 7 of us had 3 rooms on the same floor! It was perfect. We had a room and shared with our daughter. We had a small balcony and plenty of room to entertain in it. The location is right between the naschmarkt for meals, the spittelberg for bars and the museums...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
