Me and my family spent a we in Vienna at Appawalch. A clean, quite accommodation with spacious rooms, conveniently located near Westbanhof and U3 metro station. Breakfast absolutely stunning. Markus is a caring and accurate host, he also provided us with some toys for our 2 years old twins. Absolutely recommended arrangement.

We stayed 10 nights at Appartmenthaus Walch in two different apartments (we traveled in between). Both apartments were spacious, clean, well outfitted and comfortable. The first was on the top floor (of four), and there is no elevator, so it may not be suitable for older or infirmed guests, but the second apartment was just one floor up. The apartments...

Josef and Markus are incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good even by (high) Austrian standards. The apartments are clean and well-maintained. The location is extremely good ... a short walk to the Mariahilferstrasse (main shopping street) and the Westbahnhof (several U-bahns and more trams) ... and about 30 minutes walk to the Inner City.

My wife and I stayed there last weekend. The apartment was clean, well-furnished, and attractive. The breakfasts were excellent - good cold cuts and cheese, great bread, and eggs can be ordered. Every day we found a couple of desserts left in the apartment when we returned after our city tours. The host, Marcus, was very friendly, knowledgeable and full...

My daughter and I traveled to Wien (Vienna) on short notice and were lucky enough to get a room at Appartmenthaus Walch. I had stayed there with my sister, friend and dad in 2001, my son stayed there in 2005 and all of us had great memories of our experiences. The apartments are lovely. Spacious, immaculately clean, the beds wonderfully...

Our second trip to Vienna lead us to stay in the same area that we had before. This is located pretty close to the Westbahnhof and another U3 station (beginning with a Z). There is a supermarket around the corner. The family owning the establishment (building with several apartments, but not too many and their cafe/bar downstairs) was wonderful. They...

we had only three days in vienna before returning home from venice, but we knew the minute the trip was finalized that we wanted to stay at the walch's. my wife and i had stayed with them several times, and we eagerly looked forward to return there. we were, as usual, not disappointed. to begin with, the warmth and efficiency...

Imagine it comes with a great breakfast and your friendly hosts keep pressing more good coffee, fruit, rolls, eggs, meat cheese on you. I've stayed there 3 or 4 times, it's a great place. Down a side street from Mariahilferstrasse, it's very quiet, but close to the city centre. The rooms are comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, all cleaned daily. The breakfast downstairs is truly excellent, everything fresh, and the staff very friendly.

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
