I stayed here for 10 days during my first trip to Europe. The service was impeccable and the location was great (very close to U2/U3). Just a few minutes walk to Parlament where you can hop on trams. Also very close to Josefstädter Straße where wonderful restaurants and cafés are found. Don't miss the breakfast because the coffee is so...

Great hotel near Museum Quarter, walking distance to city center and transportation. Spacious rooms, quality bedding, convenient room layout, top quality shower. Interesting design themes following local wine regions. Absolutely amazing breakfast options - one of the best we ever had over the years of travel. Very helpful staff regardless of the shift. Good family restaurants close by. Overall, it...

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel in Vienna and had two rooms. The hotel staff (especially Conrad & Bernhard) went out of their way to answer our pre-arrival questions to the city. They also arranged for our transportation from the airport to the hotel - a great treat after our long flight from the USA. The property is located...

We stayed at the hotel for few nights, the room is big and well designed. The staff was highly helpful. I had a great time at the hotel Rathaus, and it is always a pleasure to stay here anytime I am in Vienna (I have stayed at several other hotels so I have something to compare with within Vienna). The rooms are nicely designed and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is also within walking distance to a lot...

We stayed here while spending 3 days in the city, and the location was perfect for visiting the main sites of the city. There are two subway stops within 5 min walk of the hotel and the Old Town is an easy 10min walk away. Overall we really enjoyed our stay - the rooms are a little whacky in design,...

We loved this stylish hotel. The room was smart and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near public transport and also an easy walk to the city. The staff were all very friendly and exceptionally helpful with tourist information, public transport tickets etc. The wine bar is good and the breakfast is delicious.

We stayed here for a weekend, meeting our friends - location is really convenient & quite, staff kind and helpful, with deep knowledge on the wines available (all Austrian, if I remember correctly - and they are really good). The rooms are really spacious, with very nice bathroom & shower - perfect for resting (minibar is not bad at all)....

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
