This is a perfect place to stop for couples of all ages. The room we had was a nice size with a stunning bathroom. Beautiful toiletries from L'Occitane added to the appeal. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had in any hotel in any part of the world. They also...

This is a beautiful hotel with a great vibe. Our room was small but the decor was very well done. The check in experience was excellent and the staff were really helpful with info. Breakfast was good too. You can walk to the museums quarter and the Hofburg palace and Volkstheater metro is close too.

I recently stayed for four nights at this lovely hotel in Vienna. It is housed in a mixture of buildings that have been remodelled together, which gives the place a real charm and character. All the staff with whom I came in contact with were excellent. Each area of the hotel has different themed artworks and each room has its...

Our stay at the Altstadt was one of the best hotels we found during three weeks of city-hopping in Europe. Very friendly and helpful staff, interesting (if a bit quirky) remodeled old building, delicious breakfast buffet......we enjoyed almost every aspect of this highly recommendable hotel. The only little "minus" is the location.....it is located about 3 tram stops from the...

Location: Interesting converted building in Vienna, footsteps from Museum Quarter and close to Hofburg Complex. Handy parking was available for 20 euros a day and Vienna has an extensive public transit, so we parked our car for the duration. Room: Our family of 5 stayed in a funky, high-ceilinged suite that was clearly part of the old building. Eclectic, well-appointed...

Six of us went to Vienna for a long weekend. Hotels can be very expensive in Vienna, but this one is not too bad. It is located in a tatty little side street with a very old looking and not too inviting frontage but inside its fine. It doesn't have the facilities of large Hotels like gardens, pool etc, but...

Very nice boutique hotel, in heart of the art district Spittelberg, quite close (a short walk of several blocks) to Innere Stadt sites, Ringstraße, and major historic and cultural sites - incl Hofburg and Schönbrunn, Museum Quarter, Spanish Riding School, and Stephansplatz / Stephansdom. In an older, historic building and district, Alstadt is quite charming - a 42 room property...

Vienna is expensive, so finding a good hotel that does not cost a fortune is a challenge. Hotel Alstadt is not cheap, but good value for central Vienna. It is quite a short walk to the main sites of old Vienna and to the subway if wanting to visit places like Schloss Schonbrunn (you can buy a day ticket for...

We selected the Hotel Alstadt based on positive reviews on Trip Advisor and were certainly not disappointed. The hotel is conveniently located, just a short walk from the underground and tram networks. As other reviews point out, the hotel reception is on the first floor which is fairly unusual. The building is clearly old and has a lot of character,...

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
