A lovely boutique hotel within a few minutes walk of the museum district. The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful. The afternoon tea is a nice touch. The eclectic styling of the hotel added a great twist to a normal city break. Recommended,

We loved our 3 day stay at Hotel Alstadt - starting with a mid morning arrival after one of those horrible all night flights. Our suite was ready, perfect start to our vacation! We chose a 3 room suite for our family, and it was spacious, quirky, comfortable, and had amazing views, just what we hoped for. The main sitting...

Hotel Altstad is a quirky, boutique hotel in a quiet street close to the museum quarter. From the moment of checking in, you quickly realise that the staff go out of their way to help you. Breakfast menus cater for all tastes with selections of cereals, fruit, artisan breads and delicious meats and especially the smoked salmon. The specials on...

The hotel is well placed for the sights. All the staff we encountered were polite and very helpful. The bathroom was very spacious with an excellent wet room and the underfloor heating made it really comfortable. A large comfortable bed in a great sized room. Highly recommended.

Such a brilliant hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, beautifully designed and a fantastic stay. We stayed in the Matteo Thun double room and it was stunning! Every little detail had been thought of. Breakfast was delicious - so much choice. Would highly highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Very comfortable room and very friendly staff. Beware of the avant garde art if you are offended by nudity! Breakfasts were brilliant. An ideal position for transport with bus and metro stops very close. Lots of local restaurants too and on top of the museum district. We were disappointed not to be able to relax in the communal lounges our...

As someone who has a dairy allergy I have found travelling through Europe a challenge. I was so very grateful for the soy milk available at breakfast, as well as the overall quality and healthiness of the buffet.

The rooms and the property itself are unique in their decor and layout as it's in classic 19th century building which has been kept 'in tact'. When previewing photos prior to our stay, we were a bit 'skeptical', but it all works. Combined with a high-level of quality and professional service, it's a great place to stay in Vienna. Another...

Although small with only 49 rooms, it gave me a feeling of home. Afternoon tea time is something we missed! The rooms are designed and configured differently. Nicely done. Quiet and one will certainly have a goodnights' sleep after long day of sight-seeing. The location is perfect - near the U train or subway.

We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was perfect, and location great too. The beds were the comfiest we have ever slept on. (Well worth booking just for that!) Aside from the amazing beds, the staff were so friendly and helpful. If i ever visit Vienna again I would definitely stay there

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
