We really enjoyed staying at Der Wilhelmshof. It is well located in a quiet street round the corner from the Prater Park, only 3 stops by U-Bahn from the central cathedral station. The rooms are spacious, modern, clean and comfortable, and are sound-proofed so amazingly peaceful with none of the usual hotel noises to disturb your slumber. Breakfast was one...

This is a nice hotel with spacious rooms, semi-modern design, and a lovely breakfast. The location is quiet and the hotel itself is amazingly quiet. So quiet you can hear a pin drop. It's church-mouse quiet. I was upgraded upon arrival and the room was massive, especially by European standards. The bathroom had heated floors...so cozy. The bathroom only had...

I have finally found my "home" in Vienna! I travel to Vienna on regular basis many times a year. I have tried many different hotels with very diverse results. During my first stay I was just amazed how closely the hotel matches my needs and preferences: - it is quiet (family-like), clean and comfortable - it is located at a...

Awesome experience. Quiet medium size hotel, very polite and accommodating staff. Clean and comfortable room. It is by Prater Park, close to the train and subway station, actually is in between 3 central subways stations. Lots of good restaurants on Praterstrase, not far for the touristic center, I walked back to the hotel almost every day off the 7 I...

We stayed at this small but pleasant hotel in Oct 2011. This hotel is not on a busy street, so it is very quiet, and I would say that this was the quietest hotel we had ever stayed in. The train station and the subway station are within a few minutes walking distance, and therefore very convenient for hotel guests...

Beautiful, modern rooms with unique designs, furniture and artwork. Bathrooms are newly renovated with nice showers and basins. Breakfast was very good and hotel staff is friendly and enthusiastic. Wilhelmshof is on a quiet street close to Nordbahn and the Praterturm. Easy access to central Vienna, without much street noise or traffic.

Warm comfortable hotel, very convenient for airport train connection and Prater park. Great modern art in the rooms and public areas. Helpful friendly staff. If you stay here use the tram network for the city centre, don't bother with the bus tours, you can see it all from the trams! Cafe Heine on Heinestrasse has the rudest waitress in Vienna,...

Der Wilhelmshof is an excellent hotel, nice rooms, VERY clean, and a breakfast that appeals to most anyone, regardless of nationality. The hotel is NOT on a main drag or major thoroughfare. It is located on a very quiet side street and surrounded by privately owned flats. The advantage to this is that there is also very little street or...

I stayed at the hotel for one night in September 2011 due to a business meeteing at a nearby bank. Since I used to live in Vienna for more than 20 years, the area was known to me and it is clearly not a dangerous area. You have a couple of drunks in every major city hanging out at the...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
