It is really great hotel, with nice people and staff, who are really helpful. Street is quiet, so everything is just perfect. Next time when I will be in Viena, I will definitely go to this hotel again. And price of the hotel is quite low :)

The Hotel Alpha was an excellent choice for us - 3 couples on a weekend break to see the Christmas markets & a bit of Vienna. We arrived fairly late on a Friday evening & found the Reception staff very welcoming. We had a drink in the cosy bar area which doubled up as the breakfast area during the morning....

Stayed 5 nights for Christmas markets and other sight-seeing. Hotel was easy to find. Everyone there was cheerful and helpful. Room was a good size (105). Good buffet breakfast, always replenished. Tea, coffee, fruit always available. Lovely to relax in the lounge at the end of the day. Would recommend and would return.

A very convenient and friendly hotel. Easy to get to from the airport by public transport. The room was adequate, the bed was comfortable- we didn't bother with the tv as it seemed not to have BBC news channel. Breakfast had a hot egg/frankfurter option as well as plentiful cold options. Free tea and coffee all day in the lounge...

A fairly basic but comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean and have all you need during a city break. Breakfast buffet is reasonable and sets you up for the day. Although the breakfast area is small, and both tables and hard boiled eggs can be a bit of a challenge to get at times. The...

This small and clean hotel was THE perfect choice for my 3 days stay in Vienna . It is located in a quite street, very near to Rathaus, Ringstrasse and to my pleasure to the biggest Weihnachtsmarkt in Vienna located in Rathausplatz. It is also 3 minutes walking close to a Metro station (Rathaus, U-Bahn Line 2) , 5 minutes...

This was not an expensive hotel to book , but certainly met our needs, excellent helpful staff, clean rooms, good buffet breakfast , tea/coffee and fruit available at all times. The location was great as it was near the Rathaus and Christmas markets , but far enough out to try local restaurants and shops.

Just returned from a fantastic 2 night stay with a group of friends for our first trip to Vienna as we wanted to see the Christmas markets. Prior to arriving we had emailed the hotel to request certain things were done and when we got to the reception we were so pleased! The hotel is spotless, the staff are all...

Despite asking for a quiet room, we were given the opposite. Poor windows helped facilitate street noise. The room also had thin walls, although this is not unusual of course. The upshot is that we were woken up every night, sometimes several times, by drunks in the street to early morning deliveries. On the plus side, the hotel is central...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
