I came across this hotel by accident; what a great accident. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Best of all there was a window which could be opened, and the room was dark- important when you've been sleeping in twightlight for a week ☺ The location is perfect if needing to fly in/out of Vienna(cost is 8 euro... Great location and captured the real mood of old Vienna. Mildly out-dated and marginally eclipsed elegance well expressed - and delightfully so. A kids ride in the old lift is a must (and educational). Wide corridors, large room (modern bathroom) and creaky wooden floors covered in period carpets. Splendid stained glass windows and prints of old Princes, Princesses and Kings.... More

Location is great very close to metro, tram and bus station, foods and shopping are everywhere available in walking distance. The building looks old and dominated by red colors, the staff are helpful and breakfast is considered very affordable and nice (it is an add on). The only prob is the hot water isn't working although have called the reception... More

This hotel is located in a superb location very near to metro and tramp stations just less than 200 m distance. Famous shopping street Mariahiferstrasses is located just adjoining this hotel. You can find sport wear shops, food shops, super markets, textile shops in walking distance from this hotel. Receptionists are very helpful they were always ready to help us. There... More

I have been to this hotel about 5 times, and I now know two of the receptionists by name (they have been working there forever), Christian and Herr Mayer. I love this place, it's sort of the Viennese "Chelsea Hotel", funky, with many bands and artists staying there, and not too modern and anonymous in a clinical, mass market way.... More

The hotel is old and not modern. The wifi is working ok, not perfect, there is hot water and there is option to have rooms with private toilets and shower. Overall it is clean but still neglected. I think is not suitable for people who wants to have a modern style hotel.

This is an old apartment that has been turned into a hotel. It's superbly quirky with an excellent location, and super friendly staff. Yes, there is no a/c, be prepared. I would hesitate to make a booking here in the hot part of summer, it is right across the street from the Westbahnhof, so pretty noisy with the windows open.(Super... More

I loved staying at this hotel for 5 nights at the beginning of Feb 2016 and at an amazing price. It had everything I needed in a fantastic location - superb Underground and tram public transport links and an airport bus stop over the road. There's also a large Merkur supermarket in the basement of the the adjacent Westbahnhof. As... More

This is an old world grand hotel. Everything from the lift, to the reception area, the foyer before entering your hotel room exuded old world charm and splendour. Our room was the largest we stayed in during a month in Europe. It was even large by American standards. It was amazing value given the size of the room and the... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
