The Mercure Wien Westbahnhof has earned praise for its excellent location, convenient for public transportation and airport access. However, opinions diverge on the hotel's atmosphere; while some guests enjoy the cozy rooms, others perceive them as outdated. Cleanliness is generally appreciated, although the simplicity and size of the rooms receive mixed reviews.
Unfortunately, service quality has been called into question due to disorganization and unfriendly staff encounters. Amenities, particularly the extra charges for premium Wi-Fi, have disappointed guests, as have the basic offerings in the rooms. The value proposition of the hotel is often criticized, with guests feeling the costs outweigh the benefits, especially when considering the pricey breakfast and absence of expected 4-star amenities.

Hotel was only a few minutes walk away from the main train station and metro station.
We took a bus from the airport which terminated at westbanhof station which meant not having to lug our suitcases far.
During our stay we were given a cleaning door tag where we could select to not have fresh sheets / towels changed and in return we could have a drink downstairs at the bar. This was part of an eco initiative which I thought was really good.
The hotel room was of a nice size however the bathroom was of a small size but still wasn't bad.

Have recently paid yet another trip to the Westbahnhof Mercure and can report that it still provides a good quality of hotel in a quiet area.
At one time the Westbahnhof was the main station in Vienna, but had been replaced by a new station the Hautbahnhof. So prices tend to be a bit cheaper to reflect the area not being the main station.
The hotel is well connected with a bus service to the airport, tram services to most parts of the city and a metro station all within easy reach.
My stay was during the continuing Covid pandemic. So much of the hotel was not in use and was being renovated. Evening meals were available in thd bar till 1900. Be aware of the early finish time. Breakfast in the morning was to a good standard with a choice of hot and cold offerings.
Rooms are to a good standard with central air conditioning controlled from reception. My visit was during a cool period of weather so was not really needing AC. Heating was reasonable and if you felt the need the was spare blankets in the room.
Staff were to a great standard as I found previously on other visits and keen to make the best of service to the fewer guests.
All on all a great hotel, with staff and a quiet area.

After a three night stay out of a total of five nights, a review of this hotel. After a online Check-in using the App, I got the keycard very quickly upon arrival by a professional member of the front desk staff. My room (430) is small, but clean and has an comfortable bed, a desk with a chair and a safe. The bathroom has a good working shower in a bath. Free WiFi is fast enough, but when I want to change to the faster WiFi, it is asking for payment. That is unusual, because for Platinum members this service is normally free in all Accor hotels. Maybe my Platinum status is not registered in this hotel, because the usual free drinks in the minibar and complementary snacks were also missing. All I got was one bottle of water upon arrival that was not replaced after drinking it. But no major issue, because there is an Lidl across the road and I filled the empty minibar myself. I did get my welcome drink, but that is already normal at a Silver status. And the usual room upgrade to Executive was not provided as well. But the designated room is alright, this room is quiet and the hotel is a five minutes walk from the Westbahnhof, offering good public transport options and in an area with lots of restaurants and pubs. And it is cheaper than the Motel One across the road. It is a typical Mercure in between the more luxurious Sofitel or Novotel and the more basic Ibis. Overall, I am satisfied with the price quality ratio and can recommend this hotel for this area of Vienna.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is brilliantly situated in Westbahnhof at the top of Mariahilfstrasse and its shops within a 15 minute walk of the Museum quarter Stephansplatz etc and plenty of transport links to all the sights.
The room was lovely and clean with tea/coffee and Christian on reception was really helpful as were all the staff.
I would certainly recommend Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof as a base for exploring Vienna and we will stay here again.
Thank You to the Staff and Management!

The hotel had everything we needed, although the property is a bit old. The connectivity through metro/tram/bus is excellent. The westbahnhoff station is right next door, where you can also get good fast food. Melanie from reservations team was very very helpful and made our stay a happy one, we're grateful.
Will recommend staying here, for budget travelers who don't mind a 15 min travel through public transport to reach City center.
The staff didn't like us asking to fill our water bottle, we aren't comfy filling water from washroom.

I personally wouldn’t recommend this hotel, although it’s not in a bad location, that’s about all it has going for it.
We arrived half an hour before the check in time, and was told our room was ready but would have to pay €30 to get the key, so for the sake of 30 minutes, we just waited.
The hotel itself is very dated, the rooms are dark and gloomy. The bed is quite possible one of the most uncomfortable I have ever used, and you initially only get 1 pillow which was very thin, I did get a couple more from reception, which were better quality. The shower in the bathroom, if you’re any taller than 5ft 8-9, you are not getting underneath it.
The breakfast is charged at €24 a person, which is outrageous, use the good location to go and find yourself a much better, and better value breakfast elsewhere! There is a reason the restaurant is ALWAYS empty.
Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely not, the location is good, but that can be said about anywhere in Vienna, it’s not a huge place and the public transport systems are very good and you can get practically anywhere in minutes.

I booked the lowest room category and knowing the room rate my expectations were not so high but the room did not even fulfill my low expectations I requested TWICE a quiet room and I got a room a few steps away from the elevator and if I opened the window the room was facing to a maschine with a big noise. So it was not possible to sleep with an opened window. It was summer it was hot and in the room there was no air condition, there was only a fan. I had a very bad night. I worked 10 years in the hotelerie and for a 4 star hotel I expect a better room. At the check out the receptioninst did not even asked me how my stay was. I think at least a polite question belogs to a 4 star hotel service. At least the room was clean.

I had a very good experience staying at this hotel.
I am from Ukraine and went to Wien for a few days to take a visa. The hotel kindly gave me a discount for my staying here and it was very helpful considering the situation in which every Ukrainian is now.
Also, I had some car situation which may cost me 400 euro but the barmen from a hotel named Ismet helped me to solve it even without money. So, there are a lot of kind people working here who are really apathetic. And I want to say - Thank you to all of them! Because it's not just excellent service it's a sincere desire to help.
Few words about the hotel.
It has a convenient location near public transport stops. In the room, you can find everything you need. It was clean and my windows overlooked the road but it wasn’t noisy.
The breakfast was really good. Two kinds of eggs, bakery, vegetables and fruits, cheese, and even vegetable milk for your coffee.
Thank you again!

I don’t know how this hotel can claim to be 4 star🤷🏻♀️our room has no working fan or air conditioning, no safe, no fridge, can’t make a cup of tea or coffee. There’s a plastic bag over the fire alarm (is it also being used as a smokers room?) towels are thin, only one each and a smaller ? For hair. Had to use noise canceling air phones to get some sleep as had to have only small window open as mentioned above no air conditioning and too hot. Totally unsatisfactory. Only thing going for it is, it is close to metro. 3 nights we had here unfortunately. Also had to ask for another pillow s only 1 on bed. Also bathroom has some rotting boards round door!

Dear wendym0521PG, We are very sorry that we failed to meet your expectations, and if something went wrong. Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused. But we would like to inform you that you have booked a budget room. The low overnight rate is the star attraction of these rooms, which do not include the usual Mercure standard features such as a safe, minibar, kettle, or full air conditioning (only central air conditioning that cannot be regulated). We hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future and your next visit will be more pleasant as the previous one. This is a review for the budget double room. We stayed for 2 nights for $195 total and thought we got a great deal for a 4 star hotel. Boy, were we wrong. We booked the budget room and there was no AC, only a small fan and the room was sweltering as it was August. We inquired about an upgrade but they were all taken per the front desk. Adding insult to injury, there was also no fridge so we could not have cold drinks either. Also no kettle tea / coffee etc.
The budget rooms should really be under a different hotel name since it can be easy to select the budget room and not realize you don’t get even basic things like a fridge or AC. Check-in staff was very disinterested and unfriendly. We arrived at 2pm and they would not allow us to check-in til 3pm but others who arrived after us were allowed to check-in. I’m sure it’s because we had the budget room. Cannot speak to breakfast as that also was not included in our room price. On our second night, the waitress serving the outside would also not let us sit at a table as my husband was having a cigarette before going into the hotel without ordering a drink. There were 8 open tables, terrible customer service for someone staying at the hotel. Would never stay here again.

Continental spread: butter, marmalade, cheese etc. Few vegetarian choices. I don't remember waffles and beans - but wish a delightful stay.
No charge … happy stay
No pool. They have a sauna and exercise room, but we didn’t use them.
you have a direct subway line (U3) from international bus terminal to Westbanhof. It takes maybe 20-25 min.
Dear ALW125,
thank you for asking. There are hairdryers in the room and there is an ironing room on the second floor.
