We had a horrible experience! We booked the room in this hotel Royal in June 2003 - well in advance. We arrived to Vienna on September 10, 2003. If you want to be cheated and disappointed then you should book this hotel. They will guarantee your booking in writing, you will arrive after a long trip to find out that...

We were upgraded for free to the rooftop suite with a balcony! Incredible location- right next door to Stephan's Cathedral, walkable to everything. Right off the Kartnerstrasse. Very kind staff. Only problem- we were there in Bebruary, but the room was about 85 degrees, so we had to keep all the windows open!!

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
