I write that because while it is not a 5 star hotel (they don't claim to be) it was a great 4 star hotel. Very classic, elegant, clean, with roomy rooms the way it used to (should) be! Nice breakfast spread. BTW, perfect for Shabbat observers with kosher breakfast available. Fantastic staff, I would certainly stay there again.

Hotel Stefanie presents itself as the oldest hotel in Vienna. People looking for an authentic Austrian experience will be delighted, but what does authentic Austria mean in the midst of all the touristy kitsch and stereotypes ? Location : near the "Innere Stadt". 12 minutes walk from the airport shuttle bus at Morzinplatz, about 15 to Stephansdom. 10 minutes walk...

Dear Where_is_my_room, Thank you for your very interesting and informative review. Your detailed feedback gave us great information on the offered service and showed us, where we can improve our offer. We regret that the bed was too hard for you and therefore you could not completely enjoy your stay. Although we control and exchange the mattresses at regular times,...

I stayed here with my husband in early October. We paid for (and assume we were assigned) a superior double room that was on the inner side so it was very quiet. The room was spacious- different layout from the superior room I'd had 3 years ago, but perhaps that was because I was traveling with 2 ladies (and needed...

The hotel is only a short walk across the river to the central landmarks - 10 minutes to St Stephens church and 20 minutes to the Opera House and 5 minutes to the underground. Dear AndrewM1968, Thank you very much for your positive review. As you wrote our Hotel Stefanie was first mentioned in 1600. The hotel's architecture with its elegant ballroom, the high ceilings and windows as well as the “imperial” furnishing still let you feel the historic importance of this building today. Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
