A very conveniently located hotel, friendly & professional staff, comfortable bedroom, and a good choice for breakfast, will certainly visit again.

Our location is indeed perfect to explore Vienna and we always try to make our guests feel specially welcome at their "home away from home". Hotel Kummer is a nice building, but it is located on the biggest busiest shopping street in Vienna, Mariahilferstrasse. Noise from the street, all night long, makes sleeping very difficult. The room was nice enough, but the toilet stank up the whole room, bad enough to make you gag: not a question of cleanliness, but a problem with the system,...

Excellent location, and easy to get to from airport (use S7 suburban train and U3 underground as it is a lot cheaper than the CAT and doesn't take that much longer!) Good atmosphere and staff were polite and helpful. Room was good size and was cleaned every day Breakfast was plentiful and a good choice, albeit the same choice each...

Dear Guest, thank you very much for taking the time and share your experiences with us. Our location is indeed convenient to explore downtown Vienna on one side and easy to reach via public transport from the airport. We are very happy that you enjoyed the atmosphere, quality and service at the Hotel Kummer. Yours sincerely, Ladislaus E. Batthyány Director

This is one of the best locations in Vienna, right in the centre of Mariahilfer Strasse. You have easy access to the subway and trams and the street itself is filled with restaurants and shops. However for a single room, it was cramped and the bed was old/uncomfortable. The staff were friendly overall.

W e stayed at the Kummer last November, during the Thanksgiving break at American schools. It was as close to perfect for a hotel of its class as its possible to get. We arrived around 9:00 AM after a very bad overnight train ride. When we asked to drop our bags until normal check-in, the young lady at the desk...

Stayed with my wife at the Kummer Hotel in late April 2012. Excellent staff on the counter and great decor. The Breakfast is very generous and the rooms are great. The manager goes out of his way to speak to guest personally. The U Bahn is just across the main door. Waliking to Stephans Platz is just 15 minutes away.I...

Just back from a four night short break in Vienna, staying at the Hotel Kummer. I am pleased with all aspects of the stay. Our twin room was more like a junior suite, with separate sitting and dressing areas, and a clean, modern shower room. Twin in Austria, I now realise, means two single mattresses with separate bedding in the...

We stayed four nights immediately after Easter at the long established Hotel Kummer. The location suited us very well as it was directly above an underground train station for our arrival with cases, and a pleasant walk to the museum quarter. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is a non-smoking hotel which suited us perfectly. The...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
